Dundee United Preview – United got back to winning ways on Saturday, can they continue setting the pace with another victory?

There would have been huge relief at Tannadice on Saturday as his Dundee United team were able to pick up their first win in three league games courtesy of a 2-0 success at home to Dunfermilne. Robbie Neilson will be hoping that it means United are now over their slight wobble which seen them lose games either side of the international break. A 1-0 loss to Alloa followed by a humiliating 4-0 defeat away to Queen of the South just had people wondering if this really was a team capable of winning promotion to the Premiership. United are now three points clear of Ayr United in second spot and hopeful of extending that.

Lawrence Shankland opened the scoring for Dundee United on Saturday taking his tally for the league to 14 goals. It’s an incredible return from the man who only joined the club in the summer. Whilst Neilson will be delighted at how his striker is performing he may be somewhat concerned by the fact that his next highest scorer is on two goals. That disparity could well be harmful should Shankland miss any significant game time.

Partick Thistle Preview – Will Partick respond to disappointing weekend loss by taking something off the league leaders?

Ian McCall would have been well aware of the job he faced when taking over as Thistle manager but he certainly got a reminder on Saturday as his players turned in a lamentable performance in the 3-1 defeat at home to Arbroath. The defeat leaves Partick bottom of the table but just a couple of points off eighth spot and a further five off fourth place which is the third and final playoff position in the Scottish Championship. Before that defeat there was some optimism for McCall following an excellent come-from-behind win away to Dundee. It’s likely there will be inconsistencies in both performances and results for a while yet until McCall gets a team in his own vision.

Tannadice is a familiar setting for McCall having managed Dundee United for a couple of years back in 2003. He would love to make this game a winning return and boost his team’s chances of survival.

Dundee United vs Partick Thistle Betting Advice

There are 13 points between these two clubs but Partick will feel that they can cause Dundee United problems going by some of their opponents’ recent results and performances. The win over Dunfermilne is clearly a step in the right direction but United have to follow it up with another three points otherwise those same doubts about their staying power will begin to creep in once again.

This is a game that promises goals with the last seven meetings producing 25 goals and both teams scoring in each of them. With the top scorer in the league in show that’s further reason to think we’ll see a few here.. United won the first meeting of the season 2-1 back in August and came from behind that day. Both teams to score looks another solid bet on this occasion, too. This has been a winning bet in eight of Partick’s 10 league games this season.
