Dunfermilne Preview – Can Dunfermilne get back to winning ways and end a dreadful run of five straight defeats?
Stevie Crawford may only have been in charge for a year this month and a club legend at Dunfermilne but he will know his time is running out as manager. The Pars have lost five straight games. And in a league where there is little between half-a-dozen teams, that means they are edging closer and closer to the bottom of the table. Dunfermilne come into Friday’s game only three points above the relegation playoff spot and a further four clear of bottom placed Alloa.
The optimistic support will point to the fact that they are still fifth in the table and a win against Dundee would move them to within a point of that opponent and the final promotion playoff position.
An undoubted success of Dunfermilne’s season has been striker Kevin Nisbit’s contribution. In his first season at the club he has scored 16 in the league alone since stepping up from League One. Unfortunately, for Crawford, that is more than half his team goals.

A 3-0 defeat at home to Motherwell means that they will solely be concentrating on trying to bounce back to the Premiership at the first time of asking. It was the most recent of a list if disappointments so far this season for Jim McPake’s team.
Relegation last season coupled with a less than impressive first half of this campaign means there is a real apathy surrounding the club at the moment. That’s something which McPake has to look to change and the only way of doing that is putting together a run of results which puts them firmly in playoff contention.

The inconsistency which has plagued Dundee is down to a combination of things. A lot of new players arrived in the summer, it is McPake’s first full season in charge and there is a definite adjustment period for teams coming down from the Premiership to this level.
Dundee sit in fourth with a four point lead over Dunfermilne and a couple of points adrift of Ayr United. A win on Friday would give them a decent cushion of their opponents and they also have a game in hand.
