EASTLEIGH v CHESTER

Football – England – National League Betting Tips

This weekend brings us the first round of the FA Cup, so there’s only the one fixture in the National League this Saturday but it carries no less importance for bottom half outfits, Eastleigh and Chester, when they do battle at the Silverlake Stadium with both teams keen to ease their relegation worries.

Eastleigh sit in the relative comfort of 18th place in the National League and there’s a seven point margin between themselves and Chester ahead of Saturday’s match, but The Spitfires are by no means guaranteed of all three points here as recent form has taken a dip.

It’s true that Eastleigh registered a 2-1 win away at high-flying Macclesfield last weekend, but their form on home turf in recent weeks has left a lot to be desired as they’ve collected just one win from their last five, which was a 3-2 win over Gateshead. Defeat last time out to bottom club Solihull Moors though indicates vulnerability.

Visitors Chester suffered a 1-0 defeat away at play-off hopefuls, Maidstone United last weekend which left them in the bottom four of the non-league top flight, but with their relegation rivals all out of action on Saturday, a win for Chester would lift them out of the relegation zone.

However, this may well be easier said than done for the visitors who have lost four of their last five on the road with defeats at Solihull Moors, Gateshead, Dover Athletic and Maidstone United amidst an overall away record of  1-3-4  6/13.

Chester have managed to beat the likes of 9th placed Aldershot Town though on their travels so far this season, and I think Eastleigh are priced way too low considering their ordinary form of late at home.
