Elfsborg Preview – Can Elfsborg stage a memorable comeback and to progress to the next round?
As first legs got, Elfsborg could barely have hoped for a worse outcome. The Swedish club were blown away a week ago in Norway, losing 4-1 and barely clinging on to any hope that they can continue their European campaign beyond this game. Things started so well, too, with Rasmus Alm opening the scoring and taking a lead into half-time. Conceding in the first five minutes of the second period was the catalyst for a collapse, conceding four goals in little over half an hour.
Head coach Jimmy Thelin has to find a way of getting his players to forget about that and focus their minds on this game. It does appear a thankless task at this point but the first goal will be to win the second leg and see what becomes of it.
Molde Preview – Will Molde follow-up their impressive first leg performance to complete the job?
Whilst their opponents are struggling for any sort of form and staring down the barrel of an early European exit, Molde’s season are very much going in the opposite direction. Following their 3-2 win away to Sandefjord at the weekend, Erling Moe’s men are now unbeaten in 16 matches in all competitions. And more impressively, they have won 14 of those – including the first leg of this tie.
Unsurprisingly, it means they have moved to the top of the league but are only three points ahead of Lillestrom who have a game in hand. An argument could be made that any of the top five could yet come out on top with current champions Bodo/Glimt sitting third and beginning to get their act together.

There is no shortage of goals in this Molde team. It is 14 goals in five and failed to find the net in just one of their last 16 games. David Fofana is just 19 years old but has already hit six goals in the league whilst Markus Kaasa is on five for the campaign, including one of the four in the first leg.
Molde will be hoping to see this one through and reach the third round of qualification. That was the stage they got to last season before an agonising penalty loss to Trabzonspor.
Elfsborg vs Molde Betting Advice
It is hard to hold too much hope for Elfsborg and their chances of turning this one around. Molde took a while to get going last week but they were dominant in the second half and their current form also means they will be confident of at least getting on the score sheet here, meaning the hosts would need at least four to even take it to extra time.
Elfsborg’s encouragement will come from the fact they have hit four goals on two occasions so far this season, albeit it against much more inferior opposition.
