England v Panama Betting Tips: England to nil, World Cup 2018

England can seal last 16 place with win over Panama

ENGLAND v PANAMA

Football – World – World Cup 2018 Betting Tips

Welcome to my World Cup 2018 betting tips, and England meet Panama at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium with England looking for another three points which would seal their place in the last 16 of this tournament.

Against Tunisia, England started brightly enough as they created quite a few opportunities to take an early lead, but Lingard and Sterling were particularly wasteful, but star striker, Harry Kane, popped up with the rebound after Tunisia keeper, Hassen had parried Stones’s header from a corner to hand England a 1-0 lead.

England were seemingly in control before defender Kyle Walker had a brain fade as he unnecessarily tangled with Ben Youssef in the box, gifting the Tunisians with a penalty which was duly converted by Sassi to level the scores as they went into half-time.

It was a very different England side though in the second half as they made really hard work of creating the few opportunities they had and although they enjoyed greater possession, they laboured as they tried to find a way through. Trippier was the one of the rare highlights as he produced some good runs down the right side, one of which resulted in a corner which resulted in Kane once again pouncing on a loose ball at the back post to nick the points late on in the game.

A few concerns were evident though – Dele Alli wasn’t 100% fit and is expected to miss this game, Sterling and Lingard missed some glaring opportunities in front of goal, and England overall, moved the ball around far too slowly, allowing Tunisia to re-group and get men behind the ball.

Onto Panama, and they eventually ran out of steam as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Belgium in the opening match of Group G at the Fisht Stadium, but they held the Belgians to 0-0 at half-time through some stout defending and Belgian wastefulness in front of goal.

Again, we saw Belgium labour, huff and puff their way through the first half which was largely disappointing from their point of view, while Panama were well marshalled by captain Torres at the back, and they held their own in the first 45 minutes.

Despite growing into the game, Panama were largely restricted to long-range efforts which rarely unsettled keeper Courtois, and the Canelmen’s game plan seemed to be to frustrate Belgium by ‘parking the bus’ and perhaps score from a set-piece.

Panama’s cause was helped by a lack of urgency on Belgium’s part, but we saw a different Red Devils side in the second half with Mertens breaking the deadlock, and then a brace from Lukaku settled matters and the points in Belgium’s favour.

Realistically, this match could go down a similar path with Panama looking to frustrate England, but without silly mistakes at the back, England should win this one comfortably. My betting tips system suggests backing England to win to nil.
