England – It’s really coming home, isn’t it?

For the first time all tournament, England played with real authority in their 4-0 rout of Ukraine in the last eight. Some might argue the opponents that night in Rome weren’t up to scratch, and they would probably have a legitimate case. Nevertheless it was a statement performance from The Three Lions, as they racked up as many goals (4) as they had managed in their four previous matches at Euro 2020.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was rarely troubled in that last game and is still to concede in five games at these finals, helping England record seven consecutive clean sheets for the first time ever. Should the much-maligned Everton man shutout the Danes, he will have played a huge role in this side becoming the first team to register as many as six clean sheets at either the European Championships or World Cup.

Essentially then, Gareth Southgate deserves enormous credit for getting this team in tip-top shape at both ends of the pitch. Even Harry Kane is back firing, which is a frightening prospect for rivals. However, before supporters start feeling giddy about their chances on Wednesday, it should be noted how no team in competition history has played more games (36) without ever reaching the final than England.

Denmark – Spirited Danes determined to ruin the script?

The turnaround from Denmark since opening their tournament in traumatic fashion has been nothing short of extraordinary. Bottom of the group after losing their first two matches to Finland and Belgium, Kasper Hjulmand’s side have rallied thereafter to record three straight wins, notching ten goals in thrilling victories against Russia, Wales and, in the previous round, the Czech Republic.

In the round of 16, the Danes had to withstand some late pressure from the Czechs to book a fourth European Championship semi-final appearance – and their first since famously lifting the trophy in 1992. With 11 goals scored, only Spain of those still remaining have managed more thus far. Meanwhile their seven different goalscorers makes it difficult to predict who will land any telling blow at Wembley.

Kasper Dolberg leads the way, though, on three goals. Currently plying his trade at Ligue 1 side Nice, the 23-year-old forward has now scored in back-to-back matches after netting his side’s second in the 2-1 win over the Czechs – a side England edged out 1-0 during the group stage. Only two Danish players have ever scored more at a major tournament while he may even have his sights set on the Golden Boot.

England Vs Denmark Betting Advice

Among the many takeaways from the semi-finals was how tired the Danish team looked towards the end, although that might have been deceptive as they were on the back foot defending a slender lead. That was a third straight win for Kasper Hjulmand’s side, the same as England have managed, though it was the former who emerged from last October’s Nations League encounter 1-0 victors here at Wembley.

England Vs Denmark – Key Facts:

  • Denmark (W2 D3) have lost just one of the last six competitive matches against England, with a Christian Eriksen penalty deciding the most recent (1-0 at Wembley in October 2020).
  • England are the only team at Euro 2020 yet to concede, with all four tournament victories thus far being accompanied by a clean sheet for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
  • However, the Danes have racked up 10 goals across their previous three matches at Euro 2020, having only managed to score one goal in their first two.

Each of the seven competitive meetings at Wembley between these two nations has finished 1-0, with five of those in favour of England. The latter, incidentally, boast four wins to nil at these finals, two of which were 1-0 scorelines. However, the Danes have scored 10 times across their last three matches and will provide this impregnable Three Lions defence with its most vigorous test of the tournament thus far.

All four England wins have been to nil, as already mentioned, with Harry Kane on target the last two times. That bet (England Win To Nil and Harry Kane to Score) is a better than 3/1 shot with Betfair’s Bet Builder.
