This will be England’s last match in the 2020 Six Nations for a while. Their final match against Italy has been postponed. England are still trying to chase down leaders France and will see their shot at the title disappear if they were to lose this fixture. Wales are looking for their second win of this campaign.

England to come out on top

England need to win this match to keep their title hopes intact. They would still need a favour from either Ireland or Scotland in beating France during the closing rounds to get the title.

So a slip from France would leave the door ajar for England.

But England have to take care of business at Twickenham on Saturday without a hiccup. After an opening defeat against France, England have taken back to back wins over Scotland and Ireland.

The victory over Ireland happened in the third round of action, England’s first home game of the campaign.

England will have flanker Mark Wilson and winger Anthony Johnson back in the starting fifteen.

(odds taken 20:46 GMT, Thursday 5th March)

England are missing Sam Underhill who is injured and Mako Vunipola is out of the squad because of coronavirus precautions after travelling.

In last season’s Six Nations meeting with Wales, England lost 13-6 in Cardiff.

But England have put together a four-match winning streak at home against the Welsh in the Six Nations.

Taking into consideration that England may need bonus points to get the title, from an England v Wales betting perspective, it may be worth backing the home side to cover a sizable handicap because they do need to be ruthless.

Two of their last four home wins over Wales have been by a margin of 14 points exactly.

Can Wales raise their defensive game?

After being so defensively brilliant last year on their way to the Six Nations title, things aren’t going quite so well in this campaign for Wales.

The Welsh have given up 6 tries in their three matches played so far. They only conceded 7 in total in the last campaign.

Wales have suffered defeats in this campaign against Ireland and France, their lone success happening in the opening round of action against Italy.

In their last two games of this season’s tournament, Wales have conceded at least 20 points in each.

The Welsh bring in Josh Navidi at number 8 with Taulupe Faletau moving to the bench.

Excitingly for the Welsh, they get Liam Williams back in the starting line up, after he got injured at the World Cup last year. He replaces joint top-try scorer Josh Adams who is injured.

Wales have taken just the two wins in their last eight trips to Twickenham. The two wins in that sequence were by no more than a seven-point margin.

While Wales have won three of their last four away games in the Six Nations, those are the only three in their last eight on the road.

England vs Wales Betting Advice

England were well in control of their fate in their home game against Ireland and they can build upon that by beating the Welsh. They have specialist winger Watson back on the wing which is a massive boon.

Against the Irish, head coach Eddie Jones made some great calls in terms of exercising the versatility of his squad, playing players out of position. It showed the quality that the English have in depth.

Key Facts – England vs Wales Betting Tip

  • England have won their last four Six Nations home games against Wales
  • England beat Ireland at Twickenham in the last round
  • Wales have lost their last two Six Nations fixtures

Wales have been vulnerable in the back line and because England have to be ruthless and go hard at the bonus point win, an England -13 handicap is well worth a look for England v Wales Six Nations betting.
