Everton Prediction – Can Everton continue revival?

What a difference two games make as Everton have found a renewed belief and confidence under caretaker-manager and former playing legend, Duncan Ferguson, as the big Scot has guided Everton to a 3-1 home win against Chelsea and a decent point away from home at Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Not an easy two games to start his tenure at The Toffees for Ferguson but his side have responded immediately and they’ll no doubt fancy their chances against Arsenal in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at Goodison Park too as the hosts look to continue their climb away from the relegation zone.

Prior to Ferguson taking over, Everton had slumped to 3 defeats on the trot with losses against Norwich City, Leicester City and derby rivals, Liverpool, the latter being heavy 5-2 defeat and a result which ultimately cost former manager, Marco Silva, his job with Everton.

There’s still plenty of work ahead for Everton and they’ll be keen to further improve upon a home record that stands at 4-1-3 11/11 so the straight win may be a little too optimistic at this stage, but the hosts stand a good chance of at least scoring here to continue their momentum.

Arsenal Prediction – Can Arsenal respond?

A heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester City laid bare all of Arsenal’s shortcomings in defence as The Gunners were well beaten by a City side who had recently struggled to produce consistent results in both the domestic top flight and on the European stage, and the question is – where to now for Arsenal?

Caretaker-manager, Freddie Ljungberg has seemingly so far failed to fully get his side firing on all cylinders (unlike Ferguson’s Everton side), and the visitors have claimed just 1 win out of their last 9 matches overall in the Premier League.

Currently occupying a bitterly disappointing 10th place, Arsenal now find themselves 4 points adrift of north London rivals, 5th placed Tottenham and 7 points adrift of the top four positions in the domestic top flight.

With Ljungberg’s replacement, former Manchester City assistant-manager and former Arsenal player, Mikel Arteta, waiting in the wings to take over the reigns at The Emirates Stadium, Ljungberg and Arsenal will be keen to bring in the new era under Arteta with a win here.
