Rafa Benitez’s Everton take on Graham Potter’s Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. The Toffees have had a tough time of late, but they did manage to hold Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in their last outing before Christmas. The Seagulls have been tough to beat this season, and Potter’s troops will still be buzzing after snatching a draw at the Bridge in midweek. Which way will this one go?

Everton Preview – Can the Toffees pick up a rare win?

Sunday’s clash with Brighton will be Everton’s first game since facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 16th December. Rafa Benitez’s men stunned the Blues in that one, with Jarrad Branthwaite netting to rescue a 1-1 draw for the Toffees.

Everton started the season well but have had dreadful few months. A 2-1 home win over Arsenal in early December remains their only victory since beating Norwich City in September. At the time of writing, the Merseyside club are in 15th spot with 19 points to their name.

Everton could really do with all three points from this one to lift the spirits at Goodison. The home victory is generously priced at 7/4.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview – Can the Seagulls stretch unbeaten run to three?

Graham Potter’s Brighton & Hove Albion started the season like a house on fire, but the Seagulls have struggled for wins in recent months. Since a 2-1 home success over Leicester City in September, Albion have secured just one Premier League win.

They have been very tough to beat, though, with just Everton, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers getting the better of them in the league. They have taken four points from their last two, beating Brentford 2-0 at home before drawing 1-1 with Chelsea at the Bridge last Wednesday.

Brighton have been a tough nut to crack this season, and Potter’s men are the slight favourites at Goodison. Can they return to East Sussex with all three points?

Everton vs Brighton & Hove Albion Betting Advice

Everton inflicted Brighton’s first defeat of the season when they met at the Amex Stadium in late August. Demarai Gray’s goal opened the scoring just before the break. In the 58th minute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it two.

When the pair last squared off at Goodison, Everton ran out 4-2 winners in a thriller in Merseyside. James Rodriguez was the hero on the day, netting a brace.

Key Facts – Everton vs Brighton & Hove Albion Betting Tip

  • Both sides have picked up just one league win since September
  • Brighton have only been beaten just times this term
  • Everton have won three and drawn one of the last four meetings

Potter’s Albion have suffered just four Premier League losses this term, with only Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool losing fewer. They will be out for revenge at Goodison after the losing the reverse game at the Amex in August, and we like the look of 13/8 for the away victory.

Danny Welbeck came off the bench to rescue a point at Stamford Bridge last time out. The ex-England striker was also on target against Leicester in September. Welbeck is nicely priced at 3/1 to notch anytime in this one.
