It’s also match day three in the Europa League this week and my next pick features a Group F clash between Luxembourg minnows, F91 Dudelange, taking on Olympiakos as the betting tips continue on Thursday night.
Although they currently sit bottom of Group F without a point to date, Dudelange have been one of the lesser acknowledged success stories of this year’s Europa League as they’ve reached the group stages for not only the first time in their history, but they’re also the first ever representative of Luxembourg’s National Division in this competition.
Dudelange had to play six matches in order to reach the group phase, but this could be where they bow out of the Europa League.
Football is unforgiving at times and Dudelange have suffered back-to-back defeats to AC Milan and Real Betis so far in this campaign, and face another tough task at their Stade Jos Nosbaum when they face Olympiakos on Thursday night.
Olympiakos haven’t fared much better though as the Greek side sit just one place and one point above Dudelange ahead of this important match day three evening. The visitors dashed Premier League Burnley’s hopes of reaching the group stages of the Europa League with a 4-2 aggregate win in the play-offs but have struggled in their opening matches of the group stage.
A 0-0 draw at home with Real Betis wasn’t the worst result but this was followed by a heavy 3-1 loss away at AC Milan and they now face a potentially tricky outing in Luxembourg on Thursday night.
Olympiakos have recorded mixed result away from home in the Europa League in recent times as they’ve registered wins at Young Boys, Osmanlispor and Luzern in the past two seasons, but have also lost at APOEL, Besiktas and AC Milan.
However, my betting tips fancy Olympiakos to possess too much quality for their hosts tonight.
