Juventus were well beaten at home to Barcelona last week and looking to respond with all three points away to a Ferencvaros who have proven they can be dangerous at this level.

Ferencvaros Preview – Having got off the mark last week can Hungarians find their first win?

Widely tipped to be the whipping boys of this group, Ferencvaros have shown more than they were expected to in their opening couple of games. Despite being heavily beaten by Barcelona in the end on match day one, there were signs there in the first half that they will cause teams some problems but ultimately come up short against the best teams in Europe. Which there is no shame in.

For long spells it looked like they would be on the end of another demoralising defeat at home to Dynamo Kiev last time out but they showed some spirit to recover from two goals down and get their first point in the section.

This is the first time Ferencvaros are playing in the group stage of the Champions League since 1995/96. Their only win at this stage came against Grasshopper during that campaign and although they are big underdogs to add to that in this game they will take confidence from that comeback in the last game.
If they are to get something out this game then a lot will rely on the goals and influence of Tokmac. The Norwegian international striker scored against Dynamo Kiev and has four goals in Europe including the qualifiers.

Juventus Preview – Can Juve bounce back immediately after disappointing loss last time out?

Due to the class and quality that Andrea Pirlo exhibited as a player there was a school of thought which felt he would bring that same level of performance to the table in his role as head coach of Juventus. It’s not quite played out like that, however. Juve have not had their troubles to seek in terms if players being missing – not least the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. But it’s been very underwhelming so far.

Defeat to Barcelona last night out in the Champions League meant the win over Dynamo Kiev the weep prior was Juve’s only win in four games. They have since come out and beaten Spezia in comfortable fashion.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of that win was Ronaldo’s two goals coming off the bench. It was his first action in a Juventus shirt since the end of September and his inclusion going forward will at least give them the leadership they have been missing this season. Not to mention his goals.

Juve are going for their fourth win in five away games in the Champions League. Their only defeat in that run was against Lyon in the round of 16 last season.

Ferencvaros vs Juventus Betting Advice

Although it was the Hungarians who took a point from their match day two fixture, Juventus still remain clear in second spot in this group. And the Italian champions will feel they can just about guarantee their participation in the knockout phase by taking maximum points from their double header against Ferencvaros.

The hosts will be able to have the luxury of having some supporters backing them in the stadium and they made plenty of noise last week.

Key Facts – Ferencvaros vs Juventus Betting Tip

  • The Hungarian champions are looking for their first Champions League group stage win since September 1995
  • Andrea Pirlo’s men have won one and lost one in their first two games in Europe since he took over in the summer
  • This is the first of a double header between the teams who met again in Turin later this month

The odds suggest this will be straightforward for the visitors and I’m inclined to agree. Ronaldo’s return is a huge bonus and he is looking to make up for lost time in the Champions League. He can lead Juve to be winning at half-time and full-time.
