In Group F, bottom club, Feyenoord, will be looking to play the role of ‘party pooper’ when they take on Italian outfit, Napoli at their Stadion Feijenoord in Rotterdam with the hosts still looking to get off the mark in this group.
The Dutch side have had to endure a wretched campaign so far in this year’s Champions League, and their past glories on the european stage now seem a far distant memory. Five matches, five defeats has been their yield so far, which includes two straight defeats at home to Manchester City 4-0 and Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1.
Indeed, Feyenoord’s problems at this level are far greater than first thought as they’ve now lost all of their last 12 matches overall in the Champions League, and have lost their last five on the trot on home turf. Both defeats this season have seen three goals or more by the way.
Visitors Napoli will be going all out for the win here tonight and hope that second placed Shakhtar Donetsk slip up at home to a rampant Manchester City outfit. With City already having won the group at a canter, there’s a danger that they’ll rest a few of their key players, so Napoli may well need to win and win well in Holland this evening.
Napoli come into match day six on the back of a resounding 3-0 home win over Shakhtar, but they’d previously lost back-to-back matches against Manchester City in home and away ties. Nevertheless, Napoli will be eyeing off an all important three points against a weak Feyenoord outfit.
Incidentally, all five of Napoli’s group matches so far have resulted in 3 goals or more, and with a weak and flimsy Feyenoord defence in prospect, we could see more goals here.
