Finland come into this important clash with a 100% record under their belts following three wins on the trot to get their UEFA Nations League campaign off to a flying start. Wins over Hungary and Estonia (home and away) have given the Fins a maximum 9 points haul ahead of this showdown with Greece.
The hosts have won their last four matches on the trot as well as they’d beaten Belarus 2-0 at home in a friendly back in June, and have lost just once in their last 13 international matches. Finland also boast a useful sequence of results on home turf as they’re unbeaten in their last eight which includes no fewer than seven clean sheets!
Finnish striker Teemu Pukki (3 goals) leads the way for the hosts and he’s also scored 5 goals for Championship outfit, Norwich City so far this season.
As mentioned earlier, Greece sit in second place and three points behind their hosts, Finland, as they make their way over to Tampere for this crucial Group 2 match. They started their Nations League campaign with a 1-0 win away at Estonia but then lost 2-1 away at Hungary on match day two.
The Greeks recovered sufficiently to secure a valuable three points with a 1-0 home win over Hungary but they now face possibly their biggest test yet in this group as they prepare to halt an in-form Finland outfit in their own backyard on Monday night.
Greece have been a little hit-and-miss on their travels of late as they’ve registered wins at Cyprus, Egypt and Estonia, but have also suffered losses at Croatia, Saudi Arabia and Hungary.
It’s therefore very hard to predict which Greek side will turn up here, but having avoided defeat in their last two encounters with Greece and with home advantage behind them, my betting tips suggest backing Finland with the well priced draw no bet option.
