Finland Prediction – Can Finland win four on the trot?

After losing 2-0 away at Group J leaders, Italy, Finland have since embarked upon a 3-match winning streak which has helped lift Thursday night’s hosts up into 2nd place and one of the automatic qualification spots for next year’s European Championship.

Wins against Armenia (2-0 away), Bosnia-Herzegovina (2-0 at home) and a 2-0 win away at rock-bottom nation, Liechtenstein have handed Finland a useful and most valuable 9-point haul from their last 3 group matches, and I daresay Markku Kanerva’s side will be eager to post a fourth win on the trot when an inconsistent Greek outfit come to visit on Thursday night.

Finland now hold a 3-point cushion ahead of 3rd placed Armenia and a 5-point buffer ahead of both Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina prior to tonight’s important clash, and with Italy travelling to face Armenia tonight as well, a result against Greece could really put some daylight between Finland and the chasing pack.

The hosts also hold a solid record at home against Greece as Finland are unbeaten in the last 7 meetings in their own backyard against tonight’s visitors.

Greece Prediction – Can Greece spring a surprise?

A typically inconsistent campaign from Greece so far in this Group J has placed the visitors in 4th place and 5 points adrift of tonight’s hosts, Finland, so if they’re to make up ground in order to claim an unlikely runners-up spot behind Italy, Greece must get a result in Helsinki on Thursday night.

Greece opened their account though in encouraging fashion as they registered a 2-0 win away at Liechtenstein and then claimed a solid point in a 2-2 draw away at Bosnia-Herzegovina, which handed the Greeks 4 points from the two away matches on the trot.

However, just when you thought Greece were putting together a solid and successful Euro qualifying campaign, they then went on to suffer back-to-back defeats on home turf to Italy 3-0 and a downright embarrassing 3-2 loss to Armenia.

Therefore, we can just about expect anything from Greece in Thursday night’s clash at Finland, but having won just 1 of their last 6 matches away from home in Euro qualifiers, this may be a tough task for Greece to collect all three points here.

Key-Facts – Finland v Greece

  • Finland have won their last 3 matches on the trot in Group J without conceding
  • Greece have won just 1 of their last 6 away Euro qualifiers
  • Finland are unbeaten in their 7 home meetings against Greece

Betting Tips Verdict

Finland’s winning momentum may well be enough to see off an inconsistent Greece outfit in this one.
