Sunday brings us action from the Italian top flight and my next pick features Fiorentina taking on Cagliari as the betting tips continue at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Fiorentina will no doubt be relieved to be returning to their home surroundings this Sunday following defeat away at Lazio before the international break which became the hosts second away loss on the trot after a 2-1 loss at Inter Milan.
However, the hosts still remain unbeaten on home turf in the Italian top flight with a 100% record which stands at 4-0-0 12/1 and includes clean sheets in each of their last three at home. Wins over Chievo, Udinese, SPAL and Atalanta have helped keep Fiorentina in touch with the top six.
Midfielder Benassi (3 goals) and forward pair Chiesa and Simeone (2 goals apiece) are the hosts’ main goal threats.
Cagliari ended a run of four matches without a win in Serie A last time out at home in a 2-0 win over Bologna which sent the visitors into the international break on a high note. However, recent defeats to Parma and Inter Milan as well as draws with AC Milan and Sampdoria have meant that Cagliari still remain in the bottom half of the Italian top flight.
An away record of 1-0-3 1/6 includes losses at Empoli as well as aforementioned Parma and Inter Milan and although they registered a 1-0 win at Atalanta, they could have their work cut out in this Sunday evening clash.
Cagliari actually recorded a 1-0 win at Fiorentina at the end of last season but the hosts had very little to play for as they’d already missed out on a European spot while Cagliari were desperately fighting against relegation.
My betting tips suggest this match could well end up in the favour of Fiorentina this time around.
