Fiorentina will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to five matches on Sunday afternoon when they take on Genoa at their Stadio Artemio Franchi, and in turn record a fourth home win from their last five.
Fiorentina currently sit in mid-table in the Italian top flight having drawn three of their last four with draws against SPAL, Lazio and Napoli, but all of these points were gained on the road, while at home they’ve won three of their last four with victories over Udinese, Torino and Sassuolo.
The hosts possess a fairly decent looking home record of 4-1-2 14/9 and another three points today could lift them as high as 7th if other results go their way. Forward Thereau (6 goals) is well supported by Babacar and Chiesa.
Visitors Genoa sit just two league positions and two points above the relegation zone ahead of their trip to Fiorentina, despite a recent mini revival which saw them register wins at Crotone and Hellas Verona, as well as taking a point off Roma in a 1-1 draw at home in-between.
Genoa possess an away record of 3-2-3 5/5 which also includes a win at 14th placed Cagliari, but whilst they have done enough to keep their heads above water against teams around them in the bottom half of the division, a trip to Fiorentina could be a very different prospect for them.
Just 4 wins from their last 24 on their travels for Genoa also gives me cause to side with the hosts in this one, although it could be a low scoring affair with Fiorentina nicking it perhaps 1-0.
