Football – World – World Cup 2018 Betting Tips
Welcome to my World Cup 2018 betting tips, and Saturday brings us the first of the two knock-out matches with France taking on Argentina at the Kazan Arena as the last 16 teams enter the knock-out stages of this World Cup.
France have reached these stages thanks to recording back-to-back wins over Australia 2-1 and Peru 1-0 along with a draw against second placed Denmark in a 0-0 stalemate on match day three which would have suited both sides.
Although France finished top of Group C with seven points, you get the feeling they have more in their locker than they’ve shown so far, and have just been in cruise control as they’ve safely negotiated the group stages.
The midfield trio of Matuidi, Kante and Pogba have pretty much controlled the midfield in their matches to date, while les bleus possess some of the most potent attacking players in Europe with Griezmann, Fekir, Mbappe, Dembele and Thauvin in contention, with Giroud likely to be their impact player off the bench.
Onto Argentina, and they’re certainly living life on the edge as they scraped qualification into the round of last 16 following their last-gasp win over Nigeria which wasn’t entirely deserved, although they did enjoy the lions share of possession.
Argentina have been underwhelming so far in this tournament as they started their campaign with a 1-1 draw against the smallest nation participating in this World Cup, Iceland. They were then handed a heavy 3-0 defeat by Croatia and seemed all at sea as they struggled to cope with the well organised Croatian outfit, inspired by their talismanic midfielder, Luca Modric.
Following this defeat, there were reports of a player mutiny against national coach, Sampaoli, but they somehow pulled themselves together for long enough to grab a vital three points against the unfortunate Nigerians in a 2-1 win, but were given a run for their money by the African outfit.
What happens next is anyone’s guess, but the more settled, organised French outfit seem the better bet here, and my betting tips suggest backing les bleus with the draw no bet option.
