We have one final match for Six Nations rugby betting to look at for 2021.

France v Scotland, which was postponed from round three of action, gets the go-ahead on Friday night in Paris.

For the hosts, the Six Nations title is on the line, while Scotland could take second place with a victory.

France Preview – France with a title shot

After a dramatic win over Wales last weekend, the title is there for the taking for France.

But, there are factors in play here, it’s not just about Les Bleus winning.

They have to win by at least 21 points and with a try-bonus to take the title away from Wales on points difference.

That’s the basic upshot of it all.

France are the 1/8 odds-on favourites in the match outright* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

The outcome there may be understandable, but it is all about what France can do on the scoreboard.

So it is a fascinating match, therefore.

France are W3 L1 in the championship so far, their loss happening in a really tight tussle at Twickenham against England.

After returning from an enforced break because of the postponement of this match, France got themselves a dramatic late score to beat Wales.

That denied Wales the Grand Slam as well as keeping the title hopes for France alive.

While they need a big score in this one, at least France do have a target.

A France -16 handicap is at even money in for France v Scotland rugby betting* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January)..

Our betting prediction:
France 11-20 Winning Margin
11/4

It’s time to look at the head to head. In last year’s Six Nations meeting, Scotland claimed a famous 28-17 victory.

Very interestingly, each of the last Six Nations meetings have gone to the home team on the day.

France have not lost any of their home games against Scotland in the Six Nations.

But the biggest margin of victory in all that was 37 points in 2007.

The widest margin that France have taken since then at home against Scotland was 17 points in 2019.

A France 21-30 winning margin rugby betting option is at 7/2* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

15-Brice Dulin, 14-Damian Penaud, 13-Virimi Vakatawa, 12-Arthur Vincent, 11-Gael Fickou, 10-Romain Ntamack, 9-Antoine Dupont; 1-Cyril Baille, 2- Julien Marchand, 3-Mohamed Haouas, 4- Bernard Le Roux, 5-Swan Rebbadj, 6-Anthony Jelonch, Charles Ollivon (capt), 8-Gregory Alldritt.

Scotland Preview – Scots not going to eb a pushover

The head to head in Paris doesn’t suggest that Scotland are going to go and get the win.

The bookies think the same way as Scotland are 11/2 underdogs for the fixture* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

Scotland do get Finn Russell back into action. He missed last weekend’s big win over Italy.

Stuart Hogg also comes back into the starting fifteen to take his place as full-back.

It was a 52-10 win that Scotland claimed last weekend against Italy.

That moved them on to a W2 L2 record for the campaign.

Their other win was a hard-fought success at Twickenham against England on the opening weekend of action.

If Scotland do go out and win this fixture then they could take second place in the table behind Wales.

That is if the victory is by at least an eight-point margin.

That sounds like a bit of a tall order in Paris.

But it does point to Scotland coming out and trying to get the size of victory that they need.

So there is probably a high scoring fixture that is going to happen on Friday night.

Under 6.5 tries in the match looks like a reasonable option at 5/6 for rugby betting* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

Scotland face a really stiff challenge. But they can take some heart from a couple of things.

Namely that they have won at England in this championship. They were also the only team to beat France last year.

But we don’t see them coming away with the match victory.

The away record of Scotland in the Six Nations isn’t really strong enough.

But we do think that they have a very good chance of denying France the title.

A Scotland +16 handicap option can’t be overlooked at even money* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

As long as they don’t get blown away in the last 20 minutes, Scotland can do enough to stay within reasonable touch.

Scotland: 15-Stuart Hogg (capt), 14-Darcy Graham, 13-Chris Harris, 12-Sam Johnson, 11-Duhan van der Merwe, 10-Finn Russell, 9-Ali Price; 1-Rory Sutherland, 2-George Turner, 3-Zander Fagerson, 4-Sam Skinner, 5-Grant Gilchrist, 6-Jamie Ritchie, 7-Hamish Watson, 8-Matt Fagerson

France vs Scotland Betting Advice

France are very good. They have such a powerful midfield and they are going to be fired up.

They have the chance to win the title on home turf. But that margin by at least 21 points to get the title? We can’t see that happening.

France are going to go hard at this of course.

But quote of even money on the Scotland +16 handicap may be the way to go* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).

Key Facts – France vs Scotland Betting Tip

  • France need a try bonus point and a winning margin of at least 21 points to win the title
  • France are undefeated at home to Scotland in the Six Nations
  • Scotland have to win by at least 8 points to finish second in the table

France’s focus is likely to be on the attack, so there could be gaps there for Scotland.

It’s France for the win but a France 11-20 winning margin at 13/5 is our big pick* (odds recorded 2000 GMT, Wednesday 8 January).
