Preview: A fixture that promises goals, with the previous six meetings between these two clubs producing a minimum of three goals in the match as well as both teams involved in the scoring. Eintracht Frankfurt Preview – Die Adler to extend unbeaten home run?

An encouraging start to the season for Eintracht Frankfurt, who should be commended for recording victories in half their Bundesliga matches thus far despite the loss of key personnel from the previous campaign. That would also have to be the biggest compliment paid to this current crop of players, that the likes of Sebastien Haller and Luka Jovic have not been missed as much as first feared.

After six games, ‘Die Adler’ have amassed 10 points from a possible 18 to sit somewhat prominently in mid-table (9th – W3 D1 L3, GF9 GA8), only three points adrift of the Champions League places. More impressive has been the levels of consistency in front of goal – while not as prolific as last term, this team has still managed to score in every league fixture in 2019/20, which is no mean feat.

Their previous two league encounters would see them notch twice, the latter occasion in a 2-1 success away to Union Berlin, and yet the 2-2 home draw with Borussia Dortmund that directly preceded it catches the eye. That was the first points Adi Hutter’s Frankfurt have dropped at home all season (W2 D1, GF5 GA3), having previously recorded victories over Hoffenheim (1-0) and Fortuna Dusseldorf (2-1).

Influential of late has been forward Andre Silva, the on-loan Portuguese international who is now bidding to notch for the third Bundesliga match in a row. However it is his compatriot, Goncalo Paciencia, who leads the way overall with three strikes, and the former FC Porto man is a 2/1 favourite with Betfair to add to his tally versus Bremen.

Werder Bremen Prevew – Die Werderaner to score their way to a result?

An incredibly difficult run of fixtures continues this weekend, as Werder Bremen go in search of a first win in three Bundesliga games following bruising encounters against RB Leipzig (L0-3) and Borussia Dortmund (2-2). Those results has seen a side still under the leadership of 36-year-old manager Florian Kohfeldt lose ground in the standings (11th – W2 D1 L3, GF10 GA14), although victory here would move them level on points with their matchday rivals.

The Bremen boss would have been pleased with the latest performance, though, in that thoroughly entertaining 2-2 draw away to Dortmund. He will have been less enthralled by some of the defending, however, which continues to hold them back. Only three clubs, all of whom currently occupy the bottom three positions in the table, have shipped more goals than their figure of 14, at a rate of 2.33 per game.

No clean sheet all season suggests any potential victory will likely be achieved the hard way, as was the case in their only two triumphs to date against Augsburg (3-2) and Union Berlin (1-2). The good news being they certainly possess the requiste form, netting twice in all three away outings so far. Moreover, they would still boast an undefeated record on their travels were it not for the concession of an 87th minute goal against Hoffenheim (3-2) in their very first outing (W1 D1 L1 away).

Meanwhile, forwards Niclas Fullkrug and Yuya Osako are in a two-way share of the lead in the scoring stakes with three apiece. Possessing two attackers in a rich vein of form can only be a positive and further highlights the threat this Bremen team carries wherever it goes.

Frankfurt V Werder Bremen Key Facts:

  • Frankfurt have rediscovered a little form after a win and a draw from their last two league fixtures (W3 D1 L2 overall).
  • Bremen have gone their previous two league fixtures without winning (D1 L1) and have now won two of six for the campaign (W2 D1 L3).
  • All of their previous six league meetings have finished with a minimum of three goals in the match and both teams scoring.

Betting Summary

Just the one Bundesliga clean sheet between them provides an illustration of what we can expect from this encounter – plenty of goalmouth action. Frankfurt are in the better form with four points collected from their previous two league assignments, and can still boast a 100% record for scoring in every league fixture in 2019/20. Though a midweek trip to Portugal, beating Guimares 1-0, could bring fatigue into the equation.

A tough run of games has halted the resurgence of Bremen, who went from back-to-back victories against Ausburg (3-2) and Union Berlin (1-2) to taking one point from contests with RB Leipzig (0-3) and Dortmund (2-2). Yet this team continues to pose big problems in the final third, with their attacking numbers and process both very impressive.

Unsurprisingly, the odds about both teams scoring are thin (4/9 with Bet365). Both possess healthy strike rates of 5/6 for that particular bet this season, however. So it is impossible escaping the lure of goals here, as not only are both posting strong attacking numbers but this is also a fixture with a reputation for delivering goals.
