Preview: Something might have to give at Deutsche Bank Park this Sunday when a Eintracht Frankfurt outfit that has tasted defeat here once all season welcomes the only team not to lose a single game on their travels, Bayer Leverkusen. The team playing at home has, however, picked up maximum points in all six meetings across the last three campaigns.

Frankfurt – Glasner seeking winning response to Hoffenheim reverse?

For the fourth successive Bundesliga match, Eintracht Frankfurt struck first as they took an early lead away to Hoffenheim. It was the first time they had scored inside the opening 15 minutes all season – for comparison, opponents Leverkusen have done so more often (ten times) than any other team this season. However, unlike in their three prior engagements, the Eagles couldn’t muster the staying power.

Defeat last time, going down 3-2 at PreZero Arena, snapped a three-game winning streak for Oliver Glasner’s men, who were unbeaten in four. They’ll be seeking a positive response against a favourite opponent of theirs, winning more Bundesliga games (20) and scoring more often (61) at home to Leverkusen than any other side. Though the recent 2-1 win against Union Berlin was their first of the season at Deutsche Bank Park.

Key Stat: Despite scoring in each of their last five Bundesliga home games, Eintracht Frankfurt have only managed one win (D4 L1) in front of their own fans in 2021-22 – that being the 2-1 scoreline they earned last time out there versus Union Berlin.

Leverkusen – Well-rested stars can deliver another away performance?

A largely second string team saw out the conclusion of the club’s Europa League group campaign with a 1-0 loss in Hungary on Thursday. Fortunately the result affected them not, having already qualified as section winners, but it did mark a first competitive loss since October for Gerado Seoane and his men after previously reeling off four straight victories, netting 14 in the process.

Seven of those came in last week’s 7-1 annihilation of rock-bottom Greuther Furth, with Patrick Schick (four goals, one assist) and Florian Wirtz (two assists) orchestrating the carnage at BayArena last time who were among those handed a rest in midweek. This should bode well for their chances of preserving the only unbeaten away record in the Bundesliga this season (W4 D3), at a ground they last won at in 2017 (L3 since).

Key Stat: Only leaders Bayern Munich are averaging more goals per Bundesliga outing this season than Bayer Leverkusen (35 in total – level with Dortmund), with this the highest tally Die Werkself have conjured through the first 14 rounds since 2001-02.

Eintracht Frankfurt Vs Bayer Leverkusen Betting Advice

We can probably rest assured that goals are forthcoming at Deutsche Bank Park this weekend. Not a single one of the 72 previous meetings in Frankfurt between the clubs has produced a goalless affair, with each of the last seven seeing Over 2.5 Goals return a winning bet. Interestingly, though, all of the last seven Bundesliga contests between the sides delivered a win from the home side that day.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayer Leverkusen – Key Facts:

  • In each of the last three seasons, the home team on the day emerged victorious when Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen clashed.
  • There has been a minimum of three match goals in all seven prior Bundesliga encounters between the clubs, and in 12 of the last 13 going back to 2015.
  • Four of six Frankfurt Bundesliga home matches this term ended in a draw (W1 L1). Meanwhile, four of Leverkusen’s six Bundesliga away games resulted in a win (D2).

Frankfurt’s home form this season, though, suggests that aforementioned trend could be bucked on Sunday. Die Adler went winless through their first five Bundesliga home games (D4 L1) until a last-gasp winner versus Union Berlin a fortnight ago. On the other hand we have Leverkusen, boasting the sole remaining unbeaten away record having accrued more points on the road (15 – W4 D3) than all bar Bayern.
