Fulham Prediction – Can Fulham bounce back at home?

Life back in the Championship was supposed to be easier for Fulham, but opening day last weekend resulted in a defeat for The Cottagers.

They travelled to newly promoted Barnsley (up from League One) but were handed a 1-0 defeat at Oakwell, so there’s plenty of incentive for Fulham to bounce back here.

Not least because Saturday afternoon’s clash against Blackburn Rovers is Fulham’s opening home match of the new Championship season.

Manager, Scott Parker, knows that his side must make a good start to this new Championship campaign if they’re to be part of the automatic promotion conversation.

Having had to endure a tricky and ultimately disappointing pre-season, Fulham know they must come out of the blocks quickly today.

Of their 6 warm-up matches played prior to the season, Fulham managed just 1 win which was a 2-1 home win against Brighton.

However, on a positive note, Scott Parker has brought in some key personnel to strengthen a Fulham squad that is now without Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessegnon has departed for Tottenham, but in come the likes of Bobby Reid and Harry Arter as well as recent additions, Knockaert and Cavaleiro.

The hosts also managed to keep hold of striker Mitrovic, so it’s now time to start making strides up the league table.

Blackburn Rovers Prediction – Can Blackburn get something at Craven Cottage?

The Lancashire visitors, Blackburn Rovers, also tasted defeat in last week’s opening match of the Championship season with a 2-1 loss to newcomers, Charlton Athletic.

Tony Mowbray’s men will therefore be keen to make an impact on Saturday afternoon when they make their way to the nation’s capital at Craven Cottage.

In contrast to their hosts, Blackburn enjoyed a successful pre-season period as Rovers were unbeaten in their 5 warm-up matches.

4 wins out of 5 gives Blackburn some early momentum heading into this season after beating Barrow, Mansfield Town, Bury and Blackpool.

However, if Blackburn are to be considered genuine play-off material, or indeed, even a top half outfit, they’ll need to improve their results on the road.

Rovers finished last season with a rather poor record of 6-5-12 32/48, and although they scored plenty of goals, they conceded more in reply.

Just 3 wins out of their last 17 away matches underlines the problems that Blackburn experienced on their travels last season, so they’ll be keen to address these problems.

Former Middlesbrough winger, Downing, has re-joined his former boss, Tony Mowbray, and he’ll support the likes of Dack in midfield.

Key-Facts – Fulham v Blackburn Rovers

  • Fulham managed just 1 win out of their 6 pre-season matches this summer
  • Blackburn won just 3 of their last 17 away matches in the Championship
  • Fulham are unbeaten in their last 2 home encounters against Blackburn Rovers

Betting Tips Verdict

Fulham will be desperate to bounce back at Craven Cottage today but take the hosts with the handicap here.
