Fulham will be hoping to continue their march up the EFL Championship table with three points against the league’s bottom side on Saturday. In truth, the in-form Cottagers should be far too strong for the struggling Tykes at Craven Cottage. Gerhard Struber’s men could be in for a tough afternoon in the capital.

Fulham Preview – Another easy home win for the Cottagers?

Scott Parker’s Fulham have been in fine fettle at Craven Cottage of late. Since a shock 2-1 league reverse to Reading on New Year’s Day, the Cottagers have won three in a row at home in all competitions, beating Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town in the Championship, and seeing off Premier League Aston Villa in the Emirates FA Cup.

Fulham have won four of their last five on home soil in league action, seeing off the likes of Leeds United, Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield along the way. Only Preston North End have picked up more home points this season.

Fulham start the weekend level on points with Leeds. Overall, Parker’s men have won 16, drawn eight and lost eight, taking an impressive 56 points from 32 games. Will they add another three points to their tally with a routine home victory at the weekend?

Barnsley City Preview – A tough afternoon in the capital for the Tykes?

Barnsley finished runners-up in EFL League One under Daniel Stendel last season. However, the Tykes have had a miserable campaign in the Championship so far, with Stendel sacked in October after a poor start. Gerhard Struber has picked up some decent results since taking over at Oakwell, but the Tykes fell to the foot of the table after a 1-0 home defeat to Birmingham City in midweek.

Barnsley have won just one of their last nine in the Championship. Since that solitary victory over Huddersfield in January, the Yorkshire club have taken just one point from a possible 15, losing four and drawing one of five. The Tykes are now nine points adrift of safety in 24th place.

Barnsley have been woeful away from home this season. Their one and only away victory came at Millwall back in December. No side have taken fewer away points, as the Tykes have picked up just six, losing 11 times along the way.

Fulham vs Barnsley City Betting Advice

Barnsley caused a big upset on the opening weekend of the season, beating Fulham – who had just dropped down from the Premier League – 1-0 at Oakwell. Luke Thomas’ early goal did the business in that one.

Key Facts – Fulham vs Barnsley Betting Tip

  • Only Preston have picked up more home points than Fulham in the Championship this season
  • Barnsley have the joint worst away record in the league
  • Fulham are riding high in joint second, while Barnsley are rock bottom

I can’t see there being any shocks in this one. This should be a stroll in the park for the Cottagers, so take a punt on Fulham to win both halves at 3/1.

Fulham’s main man Aleksandar Mitrovic has been in red-hot form in front of goal this season. The Serbia international is the Championship’s leading scorer with 21 goals to his name. Mitrovic is priced at 10/3 to open the scoring in this one.
