Fulham Preview – Will the Cottagers claim back-to-back wins?

Scott Parker’s Fulham sealed a massive three points on the road in midweek, coming from behind to beat Queens Park Rangers at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Despite going a goal down in the first minute, Fulham rallied and hit back through Harry Arter. Cyrus Christie got the winner with 15 minutes to go.

Victory at QPR was the Cottagers’ first win in four Championship games. After drawing 1-1 with Bristol City before the break, Parker’s men returned to action with back-to-back defeats at Brentford and Leeds United. The London side have lost ground in the race for the top two, but they are cemented in a play-off place.

Our betting prediction:
Fulham to score first

(odds taken 2110 GMT, Thursday 2 July)

Fulham have been very strong at Craven Cottage this season, picking up 38 points on home turf. No team have won more home matches, though the Cottagers were beaten by rivals Brentford in their previous home game. Can Parker’s troops pick up a crucial three points at the Cottage on Saturday?

Birmingham City Preview – Can the Blues shock Fulham at the Cottage?

Pep Clotet’s Birmingham City have had a topsy-turvy kind of season so far. After coming from behind to draw 3-3 with Hull City last weekend, the Blues were thumped 3-0 by lowly Huddersfield Town at St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Birmingham have been very hard to beat on their travels since the turn of the year. In fact, in 2020, no home team have beaten the Blues in the Championship. City’s last away league defeat was against Hull at the KCOM Stadium on December 21st. However, each of their last three on the road in league action have ended all square.

With a new manager coming in for the outgoing Pep Clotet at the end of the season, many of the Birmingham players will be playing for their St Andrew’s futures. On their day, City are capable of beating anyone, but this will be a stern test for Clotet’s men.

Fulham vs Birmingham City Betting Advice

Fulham will be buzzing from the midweek win at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Even without the suspended Aleksandar Mitrovic, the Cottagers will fancy their chances in this one.

Key Facts – Fulham vs Birmingham City Betting Tip

  • Fulham have won five of their last seven home league and cup matches
  • Birmingham’s last away league defeat was back in December
  • The Cottagers have won only two of the last eight meetings, but both of those have come in the last three

A Mitrovic goal was enough to give Fulham a 1-0 win in Birmingham back in November, and I’m backing the Cottagers to get three points and pick up another clean sheet on Saturday. Take a punt on the hosts to win to nil at 2/1.

Fulham will be looking elsewhere for goals in Mitrovic’s absence. With that in mind, back the dangerous Anthony Knockaert to score anytime (13/5).
