Fulham Preview – Can Fulham put an end to their recent struggles and get the points which will keep them in the top six?

Scott Parker is getting a dose of just how cruel and unpredictable the Championship can be as a manager. The Fulham boss would have been extremely happy with how his team were progressing having strung four wins together. It got them well placed in the top six and with a chance of challenging West Brom and Leeds for automatic promotion. It doesn’t take long for that to change, though, and Fulham are now in danger of slipping out the playoffs altogether. Defeats to Bristol City, Preston and Brentford in the space of a week mean the Cottagers have to reset and look to string another few wins together.

All three of those teams are in and around them in the table so that particularly run of games was always likely to be challenging. They have to prepare for another testing period as we now enter the festive fixtures which will see them face four games in between tomorrow and New Years Day. The opposition could barely be tougher in this one but Parker’s team then face three teams in the bottom half of the table and they will be looking to make ground up on the teams above them.

Leeds United Preview – Will Leeds put last week’s disappointment behind them to continue their chase of leaders West Brom?

We know the demands that Marcelo Bielsa puts upon his teams so he would have been making it clear that the last part of their previous game against Cardiff is simply not good enough. Cruising at 3-0 and looking set to remain level on points with West Brom at the top, Bielsa’s men conceded three and dropped their first points in eight matches. What makes it all the more remarkable is that they had kept four clean sheets before it. Leeds now have to get that disappointment out their system and go on another winning run. On a more positive note they are well clear in second spot. The seven consecutive wins have put 10 points between themselves and Preston in third. Whilst tomorrow only marks the halfway point of the season, it’s already a commanding lead and one they really should be seeing out.

In spite of conceding three goals last week Leeds still have the best defensive record with 13 goals in 22 matches. Just six of them have come on the road, the last of those coming on the 23rd of November. Bielsa will be looking for a much improved and focused performance for the full 90 minutes tomorrow.

Key-Facts – Fulham vs Leeds United

  • Having won four in a row Fulham have lost their last three in the Championship and are in danger of dropping out the top six
  • Leeds would have been very frustrated with their draw at home to Cardiff last week having been 3-0 up – they remain well clear in second, however
  • Five of the last six meetings between these two have ended in draws with the only exception being Fulham’s 2-0 win back in April 2018

Fulham vs Leeds United Betting Advice

These two clubs were always expected to be towards the top of the Championship but it’s Leeds who will be much the happier as we approach the halfway point. The Elland Road club are looking good for automatic promotion and are currently 12 points clear of their opponents. An away win would almost, already, certainly rule the Cottagers out even at this stage and Parker will be aware of that. As such, it puts even more pressure on to the home team, on top of attempting to end this losing run they are on.
Fulham have been good at home in the main but they are continually losing to the better teams in this league. Leeds are right at the very top of that category and are also hurting after dropping points last week. They were in irresistible form before then and you feel they can make a statement here by taking all three points in what is the last game before Christmas.
