Gazelec Ajaccio occupy 14th place in Ligue 2 but have pulled themselves away from the relegation zone with a 1-0 win away at Chateauroux which has given them a valuable five point cushion ahead of third from bottom club Valenciennes who sit in the relegation play-off spot.

Of the two teams though, Auxerre seem the more solid and consistent in recent weeks as the visitors bring a useful seven match unbeaten run into this clash, a run that includes wins over Metz (away), Sochaux and Grenoble Foot 38, the latter being a 4-0 thrashing on home turf.
In addition, this seven match sequence has also included five clean sheets as Auxerre have made themselves a solid defensive base to work from and the results are starting to flow for the away side.
