Genk Prediction

Genk managed to hold Czech Republic side Slavia Prague to a 0-0 draw at the Sinobo Stadium in Prague in last week’s first leg, and they’ll now return to their home ground the Luminus Arena, where they’ll seek to get over the line and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Genk remained unbeaten at home during the group matches in Group I and finished top of a four-team group that consisted of runners-up Malmo, along with Besiktas and Sarpsborg, and the hosts also hold an eight point lead at the top of the domestic Belgian First Division A, so everything seems to be going according to plan for Genk.

Recent form at home has also picked up as Genk have won four of their last five matches in all competitions which includes a Europa League win over Sarpsborg as well as First Division A wins against Oostende, Gent and a bounce-back win over Standard Liege following defeat to Royal Excel Mouscron in their first match back after the winter break.

Genk possess some dangerous attacking personnel too in the shape of midfielders Malinovskiy (8 goals) and Pozuelo (5 goals) along with forwards Samatta (20 goals) and Trossard (10 goals).

Key-Facts – Genk v Slavia Prague

  • Genk have won 4 of their last 5 home matches in all competitions
  • Genk forward, Samatta (20 goals) leads the goalscoring charts in Belgium
  • Slavia Prague have won just 2 of their last 18 away from home in the EL

Slavia Prague Prediction

Slavia Prague may well have their work cut out to keep pace with Genk in this second leg in Belgium on Thursday night despite playing out a 0-0 draw in last week’s first leg clash in Prague, as the hosts are expected to put their foot down on the pedal in this return leg.

Slavia Prague finished runners-up to Group C winners, Zenit during the group stages and their second place finish was largely thanks to remaining unbeaten at their Sinobo Stadium where they registered wins against Bordeaux and Zenit in 1-0 and 2-0 wins respectively along with a point against Copenhagen in a 0-0 draw.

However, on their travels Slavia Prague could only muster a 1-0 win at Copenhagen but suffered defeats at Zenit and Bordeaux, and their overall results away from home in the Europa League are a little ordinary, having secured just two wins from their last 18 away ties in the competition.

Betting Tips Verdict

Genk did what was required away from home last week and now expect the hosts to press home their advantage here. Use the handicap on Genk.
