First Division A Betting at Betfair

Gent Prediction

Gent sit in 7th place in the First Division A having ended the first half of the season with a disappointing 3-1 defeat away at runaway league leaders, Genk, but they’ll be returning to their home ground for this Sunday evening clash against 5th placed Anderlecht where they’ll fancy their chances of taking something from this encounter.

Gent possess a reasonable home record of 6-2-3 20/17 which includes a decent set of results on home turf before the winter break which saw the hosts register four wins from their last five matches at their GHELAMCO-arena.

Wins over Sporting Charleroi, Kortrijk, Eupen and Cercle Brugge have helped move Gent to within striking distance of the top six in the division and a place in the Championship Round which carries the potential of European football next season.

This impressive sequence of results which include a 0-0 draw with Antwerp has seen a flurry of goals for the hosts who have scored a total of 11 goals and have conceded just 3 goals in reply.
Forwards Yaremchuk and David (5 goals apiece) look the most likely to score for the hosts.

Key-Facts – Gent v Anderlecht

  • Gent have won 4 of their last 5 matches at home
  • Gent have scored 11 goals in their last 5 home matches
  • 9 of Anderlecht’s 10 away matches have seen both teams score

Anderlecht Prediction

Anderlecht already occupy a place in the top six and sit in 5th place ahead of their trip to Gent having signed off for the winter break with a much needed 3-0 home win over Waasland-Beveren which ended a dismal run of five league matches without a win in the First Division A.

Anderlecht had stumbled to defeats to Sint-Truiden, Genk, Cercle Brugge and Royal Excel Mouscron in recent weeks while their record away from home stands at an inconsistent looking 4-0-6 16/18 which includes four defeats from their last five matches on their travels.

Interestingly, 9 of Anderlecht’s 10 away matches have seen both teams score as they’ve become one of the most entertaining clubs in the Belgian top flight, although they can’t be depended upon to get a result here.
In-form forwards Dimata (13 goals) and Santini (11 goals) are Anderlecht’s best chances of scoring in this clash and they’ll be looking to add to their goal tallies here.

Betting Tips Verdict

Neither side are a rock solid bet to win this one, but both teams to score here looks the play.
