Gillingham Preview – Can the Gills extend unbeaten league run to four?

Steve Evans’ Gillingham, who finished tenth last term, have made a solid start to their 2020-21 League One season. After losing 2-0 at home to Hull City on the opening weekend, the Gills have struck back with two wins and a draw.

Gillingham beat Wigan Athletic 3-2 in a thriller at the DW Stadium on matchday two, which they followed up with a 2-0 victory over Blackpool at the Priestfield Stadium. Last weekend, Gillingham drew 1-1 with Shrewsbury Town, with Jordan Graham netting an injury-time leveller at New Meadow.

Our betting prediction:
Oxford win & both teams to score
4/1

Gillingham were not down as promotion contenders before a ball was kicked, but seven points from a possible 12 signals an excellent start for the Kent club. Can the Gills make it ten points from 15 with victory on their own patch at the weekend?

Oxford United Preview – Will Robinson’s boys make it back-to-back league wins?

Karl Robinson’s Oxford United are still suffering a play-off hangover, as the Yellows have won just one of their opening three League One matches. Oxford were superb last season, finishing in fourth place and reaching the play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

This term, though, United have taken a mere three points from three fixtures, winning one and losing two. Oxford have played a game less than most, but the U’s are down in 18th place ahead of this round of matches.

Oxford began their league season with back-to-back 2-0 losses to Lincoln City and Sunderland. However, in their last league matchup, Robinson’s side finally got off the mark, thumping Accrington Stanley 4-1 at the Wham Stadium.

Can the Yellows make it back-to-back League One victories with maximum points in Kent at the weekend?

Gillingham vs Oxford United Betting Advice

Back in January, these two teams played out a tight and tense 1-1 draw in Gillingham. However, Oxford were far too strong in the reverse game at the Kassam Stadium a few months before, with James Henry (2) and Matty Taylor scoring in a 3-0 United win.

Key Facts – Gillingham vs Oxford United Betting Tip

  • Gillingham have won just one of their last 12 league and cup meetings with Oxford
  • United picked up four points from the two league fixtures last term
  • Oxford have lost two of their opening three League One matches this season

After getting off the mark at Accrington last time out, Oxford will be looking for another three points on the road this Saturday. This will not be an easy game for last term’s losing play-off finalists, but we fancy the Yellows to nick a narrow win in Kent.

You can get 11/4 for the away team to win by a one-goal margin. We also like the look of the Oxford victory and both teams to score at 4/1.
