next up is a mid-table battle between 12th placed Girona and 9th placed Athletic Bilbao as the betting tips continue in the Spanish top flight at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi with both teams keen to improve upon their current league standings in La Liga.
Girona Prediction
Girona have lifted themselves away from the relegation zone in recent weeks thanks to an improved run of results which have seen the hosts lose just once out of their last five matches which was a narrow 3-2 loss at home to Valencia.
However, recent wins against Real Madrid 2-1, Rayo Vallecano 2-0 and a 2-0 win at Leganes are in stark contrast to their previous sequence of results as Girona had endured a difficult 10-match run of matches without a win in La Liga.
Even more impressive, is the fact that all three of these recent and much-needed wins were all recorded away form home, and Girona will no doubt be hoping they can transfer this recent away form at their Estadi Municipal de Montilivi on Friday night against Athletic Bilbao.
Midfielder Portu (6 goals) and striker Stuani (16 goals) look the most likely to notch for the hosts here, but manager Eusebio Sacristan will be concerned by his side’s failure to score in three of their last four matches on home turf where they hold a poor record of 2-6-6 13/21.

Athletic Bilbao occupy 9th place on the La Liga ladder but this has been largely due to the fact that they’ve suffered just two defeats at their San Mamés Barria ground so far this season, and they come into this clash having lost just once in their last six matches overall in the Spanish top flight.
The visitors are now within six points of 6th placed Sevilla thanks to recent wins against Huesca, Eibar and Atletico Madrid, although the latter two were achieved on home turf in 1-0 and 2-0 wins respectively.
Form away from home has been less convincing as Athletic Bilbao have registered wins at Celta Vigo and Huesca, but have also lost at Real Sociedad and Valencia amidst an overall away record of 2-6-5 12/18 which is very similar to Girona’s record at home.
Throw in the fact that Athletic Bilbao have managed to keep just two clean sheets on their travels so far this season in La Liga, and they’re by no means guaranteed of taking all three points in this Friday night encounter in Girona.
