Odds: Even money odds recorded 0512 GMT Thursday, 24th December

This is action from the second quarter at the 2021 World Darts Championship and it features former BDO World Championship Glen Durrant.

Duzza has made a huge impact since arriving over in the PDC and he will be at least looking to match his quarter-final finish from his debut last year.

He lines up against Danny Baggish who was the only player over the opening two rounds to secure a 170 checkout.

Glen Durrant Preview – Duzza the favorite to move ahead

Glen Durrant is a three-time BDO World Champion and he made his PDC World Darts Championship debut last year.

He ended up making a run to the quarter-finals on that occasion and he has continued to be a force on the tour in this disjointed year.

The big moment of the year for him came when he won the Premier League Darts title at the first time of asking.

Durrant is the strong 1/3 odds-on favourite in darts betting to get the better of the unseeded Baggish on Sunday.

Duzzas did see his form start to slide away a little bit after getting that title at the Premier League finals.

Before coming into the World Championship he had lost seven matches on the spin including big tournament appearances at the Grand Slam of Darts and the Players Championship Finals.

So that is really the only question mark about him.

Has he lost enough focus to bow out of the Alexandra Palace early this year? We don’t think so.

Our betting prediction:
Durrant 4-2 correct score
10/3

As the 12th seed Durrant got a pass into the second round of action. There he met Brazil’s Diogo Portela.

Durrant wasted no time in crushing his opponent 3-0 but Durrant didn’t look at his sharpest.

It was only a 88 three-dart average that he posted and will need to up things from there without question.

This will be a really interesting duel against Baggish. But we would have to swing with a 4-2 win for Durrant in the correct score market* (odds recorded 0512 GMT Thursday, 24th December).

Until we see a little sharper from Durrant, we don’t think it’s worth pulling him to a stronger winning position.

Danny Baggish Preview – Can the American pull off an upset?

Danny Baggish has already claimed a big name in this year’s draw. In the second round, he was up against former two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis.

Baggish took on Lewis so well to claim a 3-1 victory in the match, causing quite the upset, even though it’s been a long while since we’ve seen Lewis at his best.

That win happened after Baggish had needed a deciding set victory over Damon Heta in the opening round of the tournament.

Regardless, “The Gambler” will have taken a lot of confidence from that win over Lewis. Or at least he should have.

This is the second appearance for Baggish in the PDC World Darts Championship.

His first was last year after winning the North American Darts Championship.

Danny Baggish was beaten in the second round last year but Nathan Aspinall, who ended up making a run to the semi-finals.

So this is a huge moment for the 37-year-old.

But the American is a big underdog in the match outright for darts betting to the tune of 12/5* (odds recorded 0512 GMT Thursday, 24th December).

Baggish landed a 170 in his victory over Lewis and he is at 6/5 to have the highest checkout in this match* (odds recorded 0512 GMT Thursday, 24th December).

Glen Durrant vs Danny Baggish Betting Advice

So on any given normal day of darts, we would expect Glen Durrant to have an easy time of things in this match.

But he hasn’t looked at his best since winning the Premier League. His averages weren’t great in his second-round match.

He’s the proven class act here so we have to go with a win for him. The 4-2 correct score looks a good fit at the 10/3 quote* (odds recorded 0512 GMT Thursday, 24th December).

Key Facts – Glen Durrant vs Danny Baggish Betting Tip

  • Glen Durrant has won one of his last eight matches in all competitions
  • Glen Durrant is a three-time BDO World Champion
  • Danny Baggish beat former PDC World Champion Adrian Lewis in the second round

Baggish has claimed a big name already and several other big names like Michael Smith, Ian White and Rob Cross have already bowed out.

So that’s the kind of thing that will put wind in the sails of the underdog.

So we think we can afford to give him a couple of sets on the board. Therefore a Baggish +2.5 comes into play around even money* (odds recorded 0512 GMT Thursday, 24th December).
