Gloucester Preview – Can Cherry & Whites toppled the Bears?

It has not been a great season from Gloucester who have fallen short of their strong previous campaign when they finished in the top four.

They moved themselves on to a W5 L9 record for the season as they smashed Worcester last weekend.

It was a 44-15 win that the Cherry & Whites took on the road in that one.

Will that be the fillip that kick starts things for them over the second half of the campaign.

That victory will have been a huge relief for Gloucester as it leaves them on a W1 L4 in their last five league fixtures.

The Cherry & Whites had lost six games in a row in all competitions before the season was interrupted.

Bristol are sat in second place in the Premiership with a fantastic run of form behind them.

Last weekend they were in action at Ashton Gate against Saracens and the Bears got the four points.

That was a narrow 16-12 victory the Bristol Bears took, which was their sixth win on the bounce.

This is their best ever streak in the Premiership and within that streak, there have been back to back wins.

Those happened against Northampton and Bath.

So to their form against Gloucester. While Bath have won the last four against them in all competitions, all of them have been at Ashton Gate.

Bristol are on a W9 D1 L4 record for the campaign but they have scored at least 10 tries fewer than any of the other current top four.

Bristol have, quite impressively, not conceded more than 15 points in any of their last five league games.

But going back to their scoring only once in that five-match scoring streak, have they managed more than 20 points in a fixture.

Realistically for backers of the away win for Bristol at Kingsholm, a narrow margin of success would be expected.
