Exeter are leading the way in the Gallagher Premiership and will be looking to extend their narrow lead at the top of the pile with a victory at Kingsholm on Friday night. Gloucester are once again, in the mix for a top-four finish and will be hoping that they can come up with something special on home soil in this tough contest.

Can Gloucester upset the Chiefs?

Gloucester have taken just two wins in their last seven rounds of Premiership action. Those two wins did happen on home soil at Kingsholm however. Those were successes taken over Worcester in round six and then Bath in round 8.

They are currently sitting in fourth place in the table would make a huge move towards a top-four finish if they could come up with another win over the Chiefs.

Across all competitions, Gloucester have won their last four home games. The Cherry & Whites did get a success by a 24-17 scoreline in their last home league fixture against Exeter.

The last time that they won back to back matches over Exeter, however, was back in the 2011 Premiershipship. That having been said Gloucester have won two of the last three meetings (all competitions home and away) against the Devonshire club.

Our betting prediction:
Exeter 1-7 points winning margin

The try count is almost even between the two of them in this season’s Premiership. Gloucester have posted 26 with Exeter having managed one more than that. Exeter though does a lot more carrying of the ball than Gloucester.

But Gloucester have done a lot better in defence, at least in terms of not conceding tries (12 to Exeter’s 18) which has kept them in things. It points to this being a potentially close match.

Can the Chiefs land the way win?

Exeter will be on the hunt for an improvement on Friday night. They were on a four-match winning streak in the Premiership but that came undone as they were beaten by Sale in the last round of action.

They are top of the Premiership by a single point currently over Northampton who have been matching them all the way. This really should be an engrossing contest and one thing that punters supporting Exeter will point to is their away form.

Exeter haven’t lost on the road in any competition since back in the second round of action in this season’s Premiership. That was on a visit to Bath. That’s a remarkable record. Exeter are a wonderfully organised side who smuggle the ball around the forwards like no other team in the top flight manages to do.

They haven’t been affected too much by the current international duties for players in the Six Nations. Again the thing that really stands out about them is their resilience and quality on the road.

Gloucester vs Exeter Chiefs Betting Advice

Gloucester’s last two Premiership wins have been against Bath and Worcester. Both of those are staring the weekend down in the bottom half of the table. This is arguably going to be a much stiffer test for the Cherry & Whites. They have a bit of home form going, but the extra quality of Exeter should win the day.

Key Facts – Gloucester vs Exeter Chiefs Betting Tip

  • Gloucester and Exeter are level at 11 wins each in the head to head
  • 7 of Gloucester’s 11 wins over Exeter have happened at home
  • Exeter Chiefs are unbeaten away in any competition since a trip to Bath in round 2 of the Premiership

The away form the Cheifs have is immense. That’s not to say that they are going to get an easy game at Kingsholm, they won’t and Gloucester are likely to come out quickly and rattle them. But Exeter have the extra kicking quality in their game and ability to hang on to the ball. Exeter 1-7 points winning margin. Each of the last three meetings have gone over 40 points in total.
