Gorodeya Preview – Can Gorodeya pick up fourth win on trot?
After a rather disastrous start to this new Belarus top flight campaign which saw Saturday’s hosts, Gorodeya, suffer early back-to-back defeats, Gorodeya have since bounced back in impressive fashion and will go in search of a fourth league win on the trot this Saturday when they entertain BATE at their Stadyen Haradzeya.
Losses to Vitebsk 1-0 away from home and a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Shakhtyor Soligorsk saw Gorodeya start their season in the worst possible way, but the hosts have since responded in positive fashion by collecting wins against Belshina, Dinamo Minsk and Energetyk-BGU – all by 1-0 margins.
This of course means that Gorodeya have also kept three clean sheets on the trot and they’ll be hopeful that they can extend this winning streak against BATE, but they should at least keep the score-line close as they’ve lost by 2+goals in just 2 of their last 17 matches on home turf in the Vysshaya Liga.
BATE Preview – Can BATE continue revival?
BATE are another side who made a poor start to this new Vysshaya Liga as the visitors also suffered back-to-back defeats earlier this term with losses incurred against Energetyk-BGU and Slavia Mozyr in 3-1 and 2-1 losses respectively.
Both of these defeats were dealt out to BATE away from home but they’ve since bounced back with wins against Rukh Brest 1-0 at home and a convincing 3-0 win on the road at FC Minsk together with a point in last weekend’s 0-0 draw at home with Torpedo Zhodino.
The visitors have lost just 2 of their last 10 matches overall away from home in the Belarus top flight but it’s still early days in this new campaign and BATE have still yet to really hit their straps, so the visitors may struggle to inflict a resounding win over an improving Gorodeya outfit here, especially away from home.
