Granada dealt a huge blow to Barcelona’s title chances last month and will be out to do the same against Reeal Madrid on Thursday.

Granada Preview – Can Granada impact the La Liga title race once again?

Since their famous win at the Nou Camp where Granada came back from a goal down to beat Barca 2-1, Diego Martinez’ men have lost their following two games. A 1-0 home loss to Cadiz and then a 2-1 defeat away to Real Betis will have taken some of the shine off the victory but this fixture gives them another chance to record a famous result.

Perhaps more importantly in the context of Granada’s season, not being able to take any points from their last two games has made qualification for European football next season. They sit in 10th spot coming into this game and are seven points behind seventh placed Villareal. If they go on to win the Europa League then it could bring eighth place into play. Granada are two points behind Celta Vigo – the current occupiers.

If Granada are to fall short then it’s still been a strong performance domestically considering they got to the quarter-final of the Europa League – in their first ever season competing in European football. For a squad of their resource that is a brilliant achievement and testament to the work of Martinez.

Their home form in general has been pretty good this term with nine wins and three draws in 16 La Liga games. Granada will complete their season at home to Getafe with a visit to Alaves in between that game and this one.

Real Madrid Preview – Will Real’s experience see them through a tricky game as they bid to retain their title?

Real Madrid will know what a win means to them by the time they kick-off in this match with leaders Atletico playing on Wednesday and Barcelona already having dropped points away to Levante 24 hours previously.

Regardless if the three points take them into first spot or maintains their challenge, this is game they need to be winning.

The current champions have won just two of their last five in La Liga with their most recent game ending in a 2-2 draw at home to Sevilla last Sunday. Currently in third, they are two points behind Atletico and just one adrift of Barca but with a game in hand over the latter. They also have the better head to head record over both and that will be to their advantage if teams finish level on points.

Zinedine Zidane’s men do have a more difficult run-in on paper, though, with a trip to Bilbao to take on Athletic after this match, and the ending their season at home to Villareal. They’ll be hoping Unai Emery’s men will have one eye on their impending final against Manchester United when it comes to that encounter.

Granada vs Real Madrid Betting Advice

Granada do have an outside chance of European football and we all know their capabilities, but attention is very much on the visitors and if they can find a win that would keep them in the hunt to regain their title. Real were comfortable 2-0 winners the last times the teams met and that was their 11th straight victory against Granada,

You have to go all the way back to 2013 for the last time the hosts beat real.

Key Facts – Granada vs Real Madrid Betting Tip

  • Granada are aiming to do a famous double having defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the Nou Camp last month
  • Real Madrid have taken just eight points from the last available 15 and trail leaders Atletico by two points
  • It was a routine 2-0 win for the current champions when the sides met in Madrid back in December

Whilst a win for Granada looks overdue I don’t think it will be in this game. Real will just have enough to get a vital win and so without conceding.
