Greece Prediction – Can Greece produce late flourish?

Monday evening’s hosts, Greece, sit in 3rd place and hold a 1-point lead over 4th placed Armenia prior to this final round of matches in Group J, but the hosts are unable to catch 2nd placed Finland as the visitors have already qualified for the European Championships.

A late flourish of back-to-back wins against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia though have perhaps placed Greece in the next best situation of a possible play-off place for next year’s Euro finals, and a third win here this evening would guarantee 3rd spot.

Greece started their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win away at Liechtenstein but a poor subsequent run of matches saw Greece go without another win in their following 6 matches in Group J which put an end to any hopes of a top two finish.

Their recent wins over Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia give the hosts a possible slim chance via the play-offs, so we can expect them to be on the front foot here.

Finland Prediction – Can Finland win three on the trot?

The visitors have already qualified for next year’s European Championships having produced a solid and successful campaign under coach, Markku Kanerva, along with the goalscoring exploits of Norwich City’s striker, Teemu Pukki who has plundered 9 goals to date in Group J.

Finland started their campaign on the end of a 2-0 defeat away to Italy but the Fins bounced back with a valuable 4-match winning streak which included victories over Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Liechtenstein and Greece, and although they suffered temporary setbacks in the shape of back-to-back defeats, Finland bounced back again with 2 wins on the trot.

Recent defeats to Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina threatened to undo Finland’s earlier good work but they once again showed resilience by recording back-to-back wins over Armenia and Liechtenstein (both at home), to seal their qualification.

However, results away from home continue to show a level of inconsistency as Finland have managed just 4 wins out of their last 11 matches on their travels, so the goals markets may be the best option here considering the threat of striker Pukki for the visitors.

Key-Facts – Greece vs Finland

  • Greece have won their last 2 matches on the trot in Group J
  • Finland have won 6 of their 9 matches to date in Group J
  • 4 of Greece’s last 5 Euro qualifiers at home have resulted both teams scoring

Betting Tips Verdict

With both teams keen to end their campaign with three wins on the trot, we could see both hit the back of the net here at good odds.
