The Scottish Premiership returns to action on Friday night with fourth placed Hamilton Academicals taking on second placed Celtic at their SuperSeal Stadium with the hosts looking to build upon their encouraging start to the new campaign.
Hamilton sit in fourth spot thanks to wins over Dundee and Hibernian along with a draw against Kilmarnock away from home prior to the international break, as they’ve bounced back from an opening day 2-0 defeat away at Aberdeen.
Hamilton come into this clash having registered back-to-back wins over Dundee (which were the end of last season and the beginning of this term), although they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Celtic last time they played each other in Hamilton last December.
Onto Celtic, and unusually, they are not sitting top of the Scottish Premiership as they make their way to Hamilton for this Friday night clash – but this could change over the course of the next 90 minutes or so as they’ll be keen to steal a march on current leaders, Aberdeen, who are away at Hearts on Saturday.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to shuffle his squad around ahead of the upcoming Champions League group match against French outfit, PSG next Tuesday, but all three points here this evening will be their main concern for now.
The Hoops have won three of their first four in the Premiership with victories gained over Hearts, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock as well as a point with St Johnstone before the break, and no doubt they’ll be keen to take over at the top as soon as possible.
