Bottom of the table Hamilton need a win badly but will find it tough against an Aberdeen team who can go to within a point of second place with a win of their own.

Hamilton Preview – Are Hamilton capable of getting a result here and ending a run of five straight league defeats?

The pressure remains very much firmly on the shoulders of Brian Rice as he attempts to steer his Hamilton team to safety. A late concession away to Dundee United means Accies are four points adrift of second bottom St Mirren – a team they have played a game more than. It was also a fifth straight loss in the league and when you consider they were eliminated from the League Cup at the group stage, it’s been a more than challenging for Rice so far.

Every year Hamilton are favourites to go down and somehow they manage to escape but this is a very different season and they are going to have to improve hugely if they are to survive this time around.

Both of Hamilton’s league victories have come on the road so far this season. The last time they won a home game in the Scottish Premiership was the beginning of March. And that remains their only league win at the Fountain of Youth Stadium in this calendar year.
The biggest issue for Hamilton has been their terrible defensive record. 35 goals conceded in 13 league games is horrific and the worst in the division by nine goals. They simply have to defend better otherwise they will be relegated.

Aberdeen Preview – Will Aberdeen bounce back from thumping weekend defeat a record a fourth consecutive win here?

Derek McInnes and his Aberdeen team will be smarting from their weekend loss away to Rangers but a strength of theirs down the years has been their ability to bounce back from disappointments in Glasgow. Their cause was not helped with the loss of three players due to isolation. They are all key players and will again miss out tomorrow along with an number of others who have various types of injuries.

With Hibs dropping more points on Tuesday it means the Dons can go seven points clear of that rival and still have a game in hand. A win would also put them within a point of a misfiring Celtic side.

Aberdeen have won three of their five away matches in the league so far but it’s now two games without a goal on the road in the league. McInnes will point to the fact that the four goals shipped at Ibrox were the first they have conceded in the league on their travels all season, however.

With so many of his fellow attackers missing the onus will be on Sam Cosgrove to find the form of previous seasons where he has been the club’s top scorer.

Hamilton vs Aberdeen Betting Advice

This is a ground that Aberdeen have enjoyed coming to of late with three straight wins but Hamilton have had their moments again the Dons as well. They’ll also be hopeful that the long list of absentees for the visitors will give them a chance of ending their losing run and potentially find their first home win in over eight months.

McInnes is no stranger to setting a team up to grind out a win, however, and will be relishing the prospect of doing that once again.

Key Facts – Hamilton vs Aberdeen Betting Tip

  • Accies are now four points adrift of second bottom St Mirren following the weekend results – having played a game more
  • Aberdeen have won on their last three visits here and defeated Hamilton 4-2 at home back in October
  • You have to go back to February 2017 for the last time Hamilton beat Aberdeen at home

With that in mind, I’m backing Aberdeen to win this game without conceding. They have kept four clean sheets in their five away games and face a Hamilton team who have failed to score in three of their five home matches.
