Hammarby finished sixth last season, six points behind champions Malmo but missing out on European football altogether. Spanish coach Marti Cifuentes was brought in to take over at the beginning of this year and attempting to get the team contesting for the title. Heading into their 11th game of the season and the signs are looking good. Hammarby are sitting third and could end up top of the table should they get a win in this game and results elsewhere go their way,
In spite of that, the international break probably came at a good time for them having been on an indifferent run prior to it. It was just one win in their last five games, that coming at home to Norrkoping in a 3-0 win. Two defeats and two draws either side of that has seen them fall off top spot having won their first five league games of the season.

Whilst the international break couldn’t have come at a better time for their opponents, Hacken were very much the opposite. The current league leaders won five straight leading into the end of May and return raring to go. Hacken’s season has been very much the reverse of Hammarby’s in that they had a slow start (two wins in their first five) but have really came on to a game of late.
They now lead the division courtesy of a better goal difference than AIK, How long they stay there remains to be seen but considering they finished 12th last season winning just nine of 30 in total, then it’s already a very encouraging season.

The leaders are the only team who remain undefeated away from home. Hacken have won three and drawn two, including an impressive victory over champions Malmo. That is the sort of performance they will require here if they are to get another big result.
Hacken’s games also tend to bring goals. No team has been involved games with more goal, with 36 in their first 10. Nine of their 10 games have also featured both teams scoring including all five on the road. The only game they have failed to score in is their only loss – a 2-0 defeat at home to Goteborg.
