My next pick features two teams that were playing in divisions above and below the National League last season, namely Harrogate Town versus Barnet as my betting tips continue in the non-league top flight.
Harrogate Town have made a solid start to life in the non-league top flight as they still remain unbeaten after their first three matches of this new campaign with three draws on the trot against Sutton United 2-2, Hartlepool United 2-2 and a 1-1 draw with Bromley on the weekend.
Harrogate earned promotion from the National League North at the end of last season via the play-offs after finishing runners-up to big-spending Salford City, and wins over Chorley in the semi-final and a win in the play-off final over Brackley Town ensured promotion. They were also the only side in the division to score 100 goals during the campaign.
Onto Barnet and they suffered relegation at the end of last season in League Two along with Chesterfield but only by the narrowest of margins – a four goal difference separated them from Morecambe despite recording an emphatic 3-0 home win over Chesterfield on the final day of the season.
Barnet’s downfall was largely down to a poor away record which saw The Bees finish with a disappointing record of 4-4-15 22/40 but things started to improve towards the end of the campaign as they picked up a point in a 2-2 draw at Grimsby Town along with a 1-0 win at Morecambe.
Barnet’s only away match to date in this season’s National League was a 0-0 draw away at Aldershot Town on the opening day of the season, but at this level, they’ve drawn three of their last five matches overall.
