Hearts Preview – Can Hearts make a positive start?
After their disappointing relegation from the Scottish top flight at the end of last season, Friday night’s hosts, Hearts, will need to dust themselves off and ensure they start this new Championship season in a positive manner as they seek a quick return to the Premiership.
Despite the misery of relegation though, Hearts bring a four-match winning streak into this Championship curtain-raiser following a 2-0 pre-season home win over Partick Thistle along with winning three matches on the trot in the early stages of the Scottish League Cup.
Victories over Inverness CT, Cowdenbeath and Raith Rovers should provide Hearts with some welcome early impetus heading into this opening match of the new season and they also registered a 1-0 away win against Friday’s opponents, Dundee, in their last meeting back in March of last year.

Friday’s visitors, Dundee, finished in 3rd place at the end of last season’s Scottish Championship campaign but in truth, they finished some way behind their local rivals, Dundee United, with a significant 18-point margin separating the two teams at the end of the season.
Dundee United gained promotion while Dundee still remain in the Championship for another season and they face a tough season-opener not just because they’re away at Hearts but also because Dundee’s last competitive match was back in mid-March where they recorded a 2-0 home win against Ayr United which turned out to be the last match of the season.
The visitors haven’t even played any pre-season matches either and having won just two of their last eight matches away from home, this could be a tough night at the office for Dundee.
