Heerenveen Preview – Can Heerenveen stay close to top seven?
A 3-1 loss away from home at Willem II last weekend resulted in Heerenveen dropping down to 11th place on the Eredivisie ladder and they’ll be hoping that they can produce a bounce-back win against Twente in this Friday night’s clash at their Abe Lenstra Stadion.
Mixed results of late have prevented Heerenveen from moving themselves closer to the top seven pack in the Dutch top flight as recent wins against Feyenoord, Vitesse and Den Haag have been cancelled out by defeats to AZ, PEC Zwolle and Willem II.
Results at home though at least to appear to be tracking along nicely as Heerenveen are unbeaten in their last five matches, while goals have also featured on a fairly regular basis as seven of Heerenveen’s 12 home matches have seen over 2.5 goals.
Twente Preview – Can Twente break into top seven?
A heavy 4-1 defeat away from home at AZ prevented Twente from breaking into the top seven of the Dutch top flight and resulted in them dropping down to 8th place but with just one point separating them from 7th placed Utrecht, the visitors will also be keen to pick up a win here on Friday night.
However, this may be easier said than done as Twente have managed to register just one win out of their last 11 matches overall, which came in the shape of a 2-0 win away at Vitesse, but four defeats and six draws puts me off backing them for a win on the road here.
Following a bright start to results on the road earlier in the season which produced five wins from their opening seven matches, Twente have won just one of their last six away from home but 10 of Twente’s 13 away matches have resulted in over 2.5 goals.
