Both teams to score at Easter Road

Scottish Premiership Betting Tips

Wednesday 13th December 2017 Hibernian v Rangers Football – Scotland – Scottish Premiership it’s the second time in four days that Hibs entertain a team from Glasgow following their 2-2 draw with Celtic on Sunday. This time it’s Rangers who visit Easter Road, with the Ibrox club fresh off their third consecutive win – the first time they have achieved that feat in over a year. Somewhat surprisingly they are only five points behind Celtic and may just be thinking about a potential title challenge. More realistically, though, they will be looking for all three points to cement themselves in second spot and fend off challengers for that – of which Hibs are one of them.

Hibs were second best for long spells of their game against the champions on Sunday but will still feel slightly unlucky that they never took all three points all things considered. Neil Lennon’s men were two behind with 15 minutes to go but managed to get it back to 2-2 and had an effort cleared off the line in the final moments of the game. It was a game they probably should have lost but almost won. Attention now switches to the other half of Glasgow and attempting to defeat Rangers for the second time this season. A win would see them go level on points with their opponents which is certainly something they would have taken following winning promotion back to the Scottish top flight. Lennon will be looking for his team to show the level of performance that got them the 3-2 win at Ibrox back in August and resume where they left off on Sunday.

Off the field it doesn’t seem to be getting much better for Rangers following their failed attempt to recruit Derek McInnes as their new manager. Over six weeks have elapsed since Pedro Caixinha was sacked and the team are still in the temporary care of Graeme Murty. On the field it is beginning to improve as Rangers have won their last three league games – two of which against rivals Aberdeen – to take second spot on goal difference. Although they have played a game more than leaders Celtic they are still only five points behind the Champions in spite of all their problems. With a Glasgow derby to come at the end of this month they may fancy themselves to reduce that gap further still. With no immediate appointment planned, the job is Murty’s for a few weeks yet and he may actually put himself right in the frame if results continue to pick up.

Hibernian v Rangers Betting Tip

There is a growing rivalry between these two clubs following their matches in the second tier and the famous 2016 Scottish Cup final encounter. The match at Ibrox in August was not short of incident, either, and Wednesday’s game promises to be another one to look forward to. With just three points separating the clubs there has been little to choose between them over the first 17 games. Hibs have been better on the road (where they are still unbeaten) than at Easter Road and Sunday was evidence of where they can struggle when playing at home, despite getting a point. Rangers have been strong on their travels winning six of their eight games thus far and their only defeat coming at Dens Park in November.

Neither team struggles to score goals and these fixtures tend to produce plenty of them as well. Six of Hibs eight home games in the league have ended with both teams scoring and seven of Rangers’ eight away games have seen the same. That’s the selection on Wednesday, and a confident one at that.
