Hibernian Preview – Can Hibs win their fourth game in a row for the first time in over a year?

Things can turn around very quickly in Scottish football and it could well be Hibs are in the process of transforming their season. Jack Ross took over from the sacked Paul Heckingbottom earlier this month and he has overseen two wins in his first two games. This follows a win for Hibs under caretaker boss Eddie May before Ross was appointed, a win which was their first since the opening day of the season. Those nine points have put the Easter Road club in a much more positive position coming into this weekend’s game and know that a fourth consecutive victory would see them go level on points with their opponents. They could conceivably be four points off third spot depending on results elsewhere, come the end of the weekend.

One of the biggest differences in Hibs’ last few games has been the form of striker Christian Doidge. Having scored only in the League Cup under Heckingbottom Doidge has netted in all three games since he left, scoring five in three matches.

Kilmarnock Preview – Will Killie have the same joy against Hibs as they did last week against the other team from the capital?

The first 45-minutes of Kilmarnock’s win over Hearts last week was easily the best football the Ayrshire club have played under Angelo Alessio. Three goals in 17 minutes blew a poor Hearts side away but gave an indication of how the Killie team are developing the more football they play. It was also an important win as they had gone three games without victory, taking a point from a possible nine. They travel to the capital city on Saturday with an opportunity to put pressure on Motherwell and Aberdeen above them in the table and have already won in Edinburgh this season when winning at Tynecastle.

That win away to Hearts is just one of two victories on their travels for Kilmarnock this season, the other coming against St Johnstone. They have lost all the other four so Alessio will be looking for his team to get something at what will be a difficult venue due to the resurgence of Hibs. Beyond this game Killie face three of the current bottom six before facing a team that’s above them so it’s a run of games where they could improve their position further.

Key-Facts – Hibernian vs Kilmarnock

  • Hibs have won the last three matches, two of which have been under Jack Ross. A fourth would take them level on points with Kilmarnock
  • Killie come into this game on the back of their best performance of the season when thrashing Hearts 3-0 at home last Saturday
  • It was a comfortable 2-0 win for the Ayrshire club when these sides last met back in the league back in September

Hibernian vs Kilmarnock Betting Advice

The appointment of Jack Ross has had a really positive impact on Hibs so far and he will be hoping that continues with the visit of Kilmarnock tomorrow. This is already the third time the two clubs have faced each other this season with the two other games at Rugby Park. Kilmarnock won the first of this 2-0 before Hibs gained some revenge when winning on penalties in the League Cup quarter-final.

A win by two goals would be enough for Hibs to overtake Kilmarnock in the league but the main objective for the home team tomorrow is simply to get three points. Killie have struggled on their travels this season losing four of their six to date. With the hosts looking more threatening in attack and building more resilience, they can make it four straight wins by collecting three points here.
