Both Hibs and Dundee had disappointing results at the weekend and looking to make amends when they meet at Easter Road on Tuesday.

Hibernian Preview – Will Hibs head into this weekend’s cup final on the back of a win?

Defeat to Livingston last week was the final act for Jack Ross at Hibs, bringing an end to his two years in charge of the club. Despite a third place finish last season and reaching two cup finals, Ross failed to convince a lot of the club’s support that his style of play was going to bring them the success that they craved. Reaching finals is good but without winning them it’s pretty superficial.

David Gray is likely to be in charge of the team for Sunday’s League Cup final against Celtic as Hibs chase their first trophy since 2016, when Gray’s header in the final minute won them the Scottish Cup against Rangers. Before that, the priority is looking to gain the first three points at Easter Road since the end of September.

Gray’s first match as interim boss looked like it was heading for all three points away to St Mirren only for the Hibees to concede a late equaliser which means they have won only one of their last 10 league matches. It remains a frustrating watch regardless of the change in manager for the support, who are still 10 points off rivals Hearts in third place.

A win here wouldn’t be enough to see them move into the top six despite this being a game in hand and that’s indicative of just how much a struggle it’s been of late.

Dundee Preview – Can Dundee gain a win that would see them move to within a point of their opponents?

James McPake has been linked with the vacancy at Easter Road and it’s not a huge leap considering he once captained the club and has had relative success with Dundee. That will be as far from his mind as possible come kick-off tomorrow, though, as Dundee look to bounce back from frustration at the weekend. Dundee held the lead twice against Ross County but some awful defending seen them return home with nothing after a 3-2 defeat.

It leaves the dark blues just a couple of points above County and St Johnstone who are joint bottom but have also played a game less than Dundee.

It’s also another three goals in the against column taking their season total to 33 which is the worst in the division by at least four goals. Saturday was the fourth time this season where they have conceded three or more goals on their travels and that simply has to improve if they are to remain in the league.

The loss also means that Dundee have lost six out of eight in the Premiership on the road. Not team has lost more and it doesn’t invoke much confidence ahead of this game.

Hibernian vs Dundee Betting Advice

It is fair to say that neither of these teams are in the best of form. Hibs haven’t won at home in nearly three months whilst their opponents have taken only four points from a possible 24 on the road. However, this would probably be the fixture that the home team would pick if they could. Their record against Dundee is excellent having went 11 unbeaten against the Dens Park club. They’ve won seven in that time.

The meeting between the two teams earlier this season finished 2-2 There has been 23 goals in the last six games between the two.

Key Facts – Hibernian vs Dundee Betting Tip

  • Hibs’ last home win in the league was at the end of September (1-0 win against St Johnstone)
  • Dundee have conceded three or more goals in four of their eight away matches in the league
  • The Edinburgh club are unbeaten in their last 11 matches against Dundee

This is probably a bet against Dundee as it is for Hibs but the visitors are so porous on the road and generally poor away from home that it looks the ideal opportunity for David Gray to get a first win in charge as they approach Sunday’s huge clash at Hampden.
