Hibernian Preview – Can Hibs get back on track?
3rd placed Hibernian will no doubt be keen to get back on track after having to play Rangers and Celtic in recent times which yielded just a single point for Friday evening’s hosts, but Hibs have a great chance to return to winning ways when they entertain third from bottom club, Hamilton Academical, at Easter Road.
A creditable 2-2 draw at home with Rangers was followed by a 3-0 loss away from home at Celtic but Hibernian are realistic enough to know that their best chance this season is to finish as the third best team in the Scottish top flight this term, but will be keen to reduce the deficit on the top two clubs with a win on Friday.
Hibs started the new Premiership season in encouraging fashion as they put together a five-match unbeaten run and they’ve lost just once at home so far amidst a record of 1-2-1 4/4 this term while they also hold a good recent record at home against Hamilton, winning their last four meetings on the trot at Easter Road.
Hamilton Academical Preview – Can Hamilton claim another win on the road?
The good news for Hibernian is that Hamilton Academical have won just two of their eight matches to date in this season’s Scottish Premiership campaign – the potential bad news is that both of these wins were achieved away from home, with victories at Motherwell and Livingston.
The visitors started their new season in disastrous fashion though as they lost all of their first three matches of the new term as they were handed defeats against Celtic, Ross County and St Mirren, but wins on the road at the aforementioned Motherwell and Livingston have at least made things a little more respectable.
It should be noted though that the aforementioned wins were against teams sitting in 9th and 8th places respectively while their two trips to face top five opposition both ended in defeat; 5-1 at Celtic and a 2-1 loss at Kilmarnock.
