Hull City Preview – Can the Tigers end a run of four consecutive league and cup defeats?

After winning three league and cup games on the spin, Hull City’s form has taken a turn for the worse, as the Tigers have now lost four in a row in all competitions. In midweek, Grant McCann’s side crashed to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town at the KCOM Stadium.

Hull have struggled on their own patch of late, losing successive matches to Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Chelsea (Emirates FA Cup) and Huddersfield. Ryan Tafazolli’s goal in midweek was their first home league goal since Keane Lewis-Potter scored in a 3-0 win over Birmingham City in December.

Our betting prediction:

Hull’s recent poor run of form has seriously dented their play-off hopes. City have slipped down to 13th place in the Championship table, eight points away from the top six. Can McCann’s troops get back on track with a vital three points on Saturday?

Brentford Preview – Bees to hit back with a crucial win on the road?

Before the midweek defeat to Nottingham Forest, Brentford had won six league games in a row at Griffin Park. Prior to the Forest loss, the Bees also lost to Premier League Leicester City at Griffin Park in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Thomas Frank’s men have failed to win any of their last three in all competitions, taking just one point from the last six on offer in the Championship. The London side have also struggled on the road lately, winning only one of their past six away league encounters.

Despite their sluggish form of late, Brentford are still in a great position in the Championship. If they had beaten Forest on Tuesday, Frank’s men would be just three points off the automatic places now. Brentford could do with a win at the weekend, and they head to East Yorkshire as the 11/10 favourites.

Hull City vs Brentford Betting Advice

Back in August at the beginning of the season, Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring just eight minutes into the second half, with Ollie Watkins equalising with 18 minutes to go in the 1-1 draw. Two of the last four meetings have ended in 1-1 stalemates, but Brentford thumped Hull 5-1 at Griffin Park last term.

Key Facts – Hull City vs Brentford Betting Tip

  • Hull have lost four league and cup matches in a row
  • Brentford are without a win in three matches in all competitions (two losses, one draw)
  • The pair drew 1-1 in the reverse game at Griffin Park earlier in the season

After Tuesday’s disappointing defeat to fellow promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest, Frank’s team will be desperate to get back to winning ways this weekend. This should be an entertaining encounter, so take a punt on the Brentford win and both teams to score at 10/3.

Ollie Watkins is the joint top scorer in the Championship with 18 goals to his name. The striker, who netted in the reverse match, is available at the decent odds of 5/4 to score anytime in this one.
