Hull City and Middlesbrough clash in EFL Championship action at the MKM Stadium this Saturday. Grant McCann’s Tigers, last term’s EFL League One champions, have had a tough time back in the second tier so far. As for Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough, they occupy a spot in mid-table at present. Hull are in desperate need of the points, but Boro are the bookies’ favourites in this one. Keep reading for the best betting odds and tips.

Hull City Preview – Can the Tigers roar to a much-needed three points?

Hull City made a blistering start to their season, walloping Preston North End away from home in game one. The League One champions were quick out of the blocks, with goals from Keane Lewis-Potter, Richard Smallwood, Josh Magennis and Andy Cannon giving the Tigers a handsome 4-1 victory at Deepdale.

However, to say things have gone downhill from then on would be an understatement. No team in the Championship have picked up fewer points since, as the Tigers have amassed just three from a possible 27. City have lost six and drawn three of their past nine in the league.

After a trio of poor defeats, Hull at least stopped the rot in their last fixture, drawing 1-1 at home with Blackpool. The East Yorkshire club could certainly do with maximum points from this one.

Middlesbrough Preview – Can Boro make it back-to-back wins?

Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough have made a steady enough start to their Championship season. After ten games played, Boro have picked up three wins, drawn three times and suffered four losses. Along the way, they have scored 11 and shipped 11.

After disappointing defeats to Blackpool and Reading, Middlesbrough bounced back with an important three points in midweek. Against his former club Sheffield United, Warnock guided Boro to a 2-0 home win, with Duncan Watmore and Paddy McNair getting the goals.

With things so tight in the Championship early doors, Middlesbrough find themselves four points away from sixth and four points above the drop zone right now. Warnock & Co. would love a win at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

Hull City vs Middlesbrough Betting Advice

These two teams last met in the 2019-20 Championship campaign. Hull may have finished bottom of the league, but the Tigers picked up four points from their two meetings with Boro.

The pair played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Riverside in November 2019, with City coming from two goals down to rescue a point. Several months later, Hull came from behind again to beat Middlesbrough 2-1.

Key Facts – Hull City vs Middlesbrough Betting Tip

  • Hull have won just one of the previous six meetings
  • The Tigers have not won since the opening weekend
  • Middlesbrough have picked up only won away win so far this term

Both teams could do with the points for different reasons. Hull have found life back in the Championship tough going so far, while Middlesbrough’s campaign has yet to really take off. We fancy the pair to cancel each other out in this all-Yorkshire affair, and the 1-1 draw is nicely priced at 5/1.

Middlesbrough have scored the opening goal in each of their last nine meetings with Hull. The bookies are offering 5/6 for the away team to open the scoring in this one.
