Hull City Preview – Can Hull move away from bottom three?

A solid point away from home at Birmingham City in a 3-3 draw at St Andrews on the weekend meant that Hull City avoided slipping down into the relegation zone but The Tigers are still perched precariously just above the bottom three, courtesy of a better goal difference over third from bottom club, Huddersfield Town.

That point in the west midlands could have been all three points had it not been for a Gary Gardner equaliser just two minutes from time for The Blues, but nevertheless, this result ended a miserable run of five defeats on the trot for Grant McCann’s side.

Hull’s situation continues to be a worrying one though as the hosts have lost seven of their last eight matches at the KCOM Stadium amidst an overall home record of 6-3-11 27/34 but with the need for points here, the hosts should at least hit the back of the net.

Middlesbrough Preview – Can Warnock steer Boro to safety?

Former Cardiff City manager, Neil Warnock, just cannot step away from football after previously announcing his retirement when he left Cardiff last season but this is just as well for Middlesborugh as he steered Boro to a 2-0 win away from home at fellow strugglers on the weekend to hand Middlesbrough a vital three points in their bid to avoid the drop.

The win at Stoke has helped lift Middlesbrough up into the relative comfort of 19th place (such was their predicament beforehand under Jonathan Woodgate), but with just a two-point buffer ahead of third from bottom club, Huddersfield Town, there’s still a lot of work ahead for the visitors.

Nevertheless, Middlesbrough have won their last two away matches on the trot with a previous 1-0 win at Charlton Athletic over his old buddy, Lee Bowyer, being Woodgate’s final contribution for Boro, and although an overall away record of 4-6-9 21/28 still requires work, the recent wins on the road will give them confidence here.
