Iceland Preview – Can Iceland bounce back from heavy defeat?
Iceland were handed a second defeat on the trot in the Nations League at the start of last month as they slumped to a heavy 5-1 defeat away from home at Belgium and this loss followed on from a disappointing but not entirely unexpected 1-0 defeat at home to England in the same competition.
The loss to England ended a promising run of results for Iceland who had put together a five-match unbeaten run in all competitions and included winning four of these five matches with victories over Andorra, Moldova, Canada and El Salvador.
On home soil, Iceland have lost just two of their last nine matches in all competitions which were against France and England, but the hosts have recorded six wins during this period too. However, it’s now crunch-time and perhaps the goals market is the best option here, especially as seven of Iceland’s last nine home matches have resulted in under 2.5 goals.
Romania Preview – Can Romania pull a result out the bag?
It’s been a fairly quiet period for Romania too with regards gaining wins as the visitors have managed to pick up just one win from their last five matches overall in all competitions which came in the shape of a 3-2 win away from home at Austria in the Nations League.
There’s a lot more at stake in this upcoming clash against Iceland though, and Romania aren’t expected to be scoring three goals on the road in this encounter which is expected to be a closely fought affair.
Romania have performed in fairly solid fashion away from home though as they’ve lost just two of their last 11 matches, picking up six wins in the process and drawing three, so they won’t be pushovers in this clash either.
