This is the final of the French Open 2020 and it looks as if it is going to be a tight one as well.

It features 19-year-old Iga Swiatek as the favourite for the contest after an absolutely stellar run from out of nowhere.

She will be taking on this year’s Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin for the silverware.

Will the American be able to claim the second piece of major silverware this year?

Iga Swiatek Preview – Can Swiatek take things one step further

Poland’s Iga Swiatek has produced a tremendous run at the French Open 2020 and it has been full of power and composure.

The unseeded player has managed to get to the final of the Grand Slam without dropping a set.

But her form goes even deeper than that as well.

In none of her six matches played at Roland Garros this season, has Swiatek dropped more than five games.

It’s been a stunning show of form from the young Polish player and it was in the quarter-finals that people started to sit up and take notice.

She crushed top seed Simona Halep 6-1 6-2 in that match.

Even more impressively on top of that, Swiatek followed up with back to back wins in the quarter-finals and semi-finals against fellow unseeded players.

So she didn’t take her eye off the ball and there has not been a hint of complacency from her.

For the French Open 2020 final tennis betting Swiatek is the 8/13 odds-on favourite* (odds taken 04:27 GMT Friday, 9th October).

In her semi-final match on Thursday, Swiatek beat qualifier Nadia Podoroska, who herself had had a stunning tournament which included a win over third seed Elina Sviotlina in the quarter-finals.

Iga Swiatek only made her French Open debut last year and made a run to the fourth round there.

She has yet to win a WTA singles title at any level and has never been above a ranking of 48th in the world.

So this is some run from the 19-year-old. There wasn’t any hint of things coming through her form in the run-up to the French Open.

But the way she is playing, she is going to take some stopping.

Sofia Kenin Preview – Can Kenin double up on 2020 Grand Slam titles?

After a win at the Australian Open Final earlier this year, Sofia Kenin now has the chance to double her tally of major titles.

Since that Australian Open success, there wasn’t tremendous form shown from Kenin.

In her build-up to the French Open she lost in the fourth round at the US Open, before falling in her first match at the Rome Open on clay.

But she played the best match of this campaign when up against Petra Kvitova in the semifinals of this French Open 2020 run.

The American, who is just a ball of energy, played some really measured and controlled stuff against the aggressive Kvitova.

Kenin just simply played the averages, moving around and keeping the ball in play, dialling back on going for bold winners.

It was a brilliant tactical move which paid off. She beat Kvitova in straight sets from a position of having been an underdog in the tennis market pre-match.

Once again she is underdog, trading at a current 11/8 quote to take Saturday’s match win* (odds taken 04:27 GMT Friday, 9th October).

Sofia Kenin has dropped a set in four of her six matches at the 2020 French Open this season.

Clay hasn’t been her best surface, but at last year’s French Open she pulled off a major upset in knocking Serena Williams out of the running.

It is now a highly impressive 16-1 record in Grand Slam events this season and that’s

Iga Swiatek vs Sofia Kenin Betting Advice

Iga Swiatek is the lowest-ranked women’s finalist at the French Open since 1975. It is not just she has been winning, it’s how she has been winning.

She has, so far, made all of her matches at the French Open lop-sided affairs. She has simply looked unplayable.

There has not been a glimmer of her being troubled and her mentality in beating lower-ranked opponents following her career-highlight of knocking out Simona Halep says a lot about her.

Swiatek is easily worth a look in the match outright at 8/13* (odds taken 04:27 GMT Friday, 9th October).

Key Facts – Iga Swiatek vs Sofia Kenin Betting Tip

  • Iga Swiatek is the lowest-ranked finalist at the French Open since the ‘70s
  • Iga Swiatek knocked out top seed Simona Halep in the quarter-finals
  • Sofia Kenin won the Australian Open earlier this year

Kenin is the one who has handled the pressure in the final of a Grand Slam before. But she has shown more vulnerabilities than Swiatek has in this campaign.

She was moving brilliantly against Kvitova in the last round.

But we feel that Kenin will probably need to come out of her shell a little more against Swiatek.

That will increase her vulnerability to some powerful groundstrokes from Swiatek.

We just have to ride the Swiatek train and a 2-0 option on her taking the title in Set Betting is at 11/8* (odds taken 04:27 GMT Friday, 9th October).
